The other weekend, at an OldSkool event, I was playing a 1999 LL Cool J song & some dude walked up to me expressing how disappointed he was with the fact that I was playing new music at a ThrowBacks only event… which brings me to the question,
When/how does a song get to be categorized as “OLDSKOOL” ?
I mean, 1999 is literally 27 Years ago🤔

I have always tried to rally our musicians to try and penetrate that Ethiopian Market (I know they can) I have heard so many Ugandan Songs on the streets of Addis Ababa (translated to Amharic).. Eddy Kenzo’s Sitya Loss, Maria Rosa, Joshua Baraka’s Wrong Places, Digi, Bebe Cool’s Kabulengane is a big song out there, so is Chameleone’s Mama Mia, Spice Diana’s Tujooge, Ugaboys’ Salary..
With Proper/Intensional Push, we can widen the Ugandan Music consumer base to Ethiopia 🇪🇹 (a market with over 130 million people 👌🏻) I always do my best to educate ‘em about some New Ugandan Songs everytime I drop a set there.. but ofcourse that’s not enough….
