Passed annually for 65 consecutive years, this legislation helps strengthen our national defense, provide a pay raise for our troops, and ensure our military has the tools they need to keep our nation safe. The Senate MUST pass the NDAA.

It would be putting it mildly to say I was shocked today to learn I am among 44 members of Congress whose text messages were snagged and reviewed by former DOJ Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigative team. This is a stunning abuse of power that should alarm every American, regardless of party. Jack Smith and his team bypassed the safeguards meant to protect Members of Congress from having their constitutionally protected communications compromised. I have many questions. Under what legal authority did they gain these messages? Did Mr. Smith lie to Congress at any time regarding having these messages or the content contained in them? Did any of these messages have sensitive or classified information in them? These and other questions should be asked and answered as soon as possible. What’s clear is that this wasn’t a technicality or oversight; it was a special counsel who thought he could operate above the Constitution and above the truth, empowered by the Biden administration’s weaponization of the Justice Department. This kind of lawlessness demands real accountability, and I expect answers. I thank Chairmen Grassley and Johnson for continuing to look into this most serious matter.

Disappointed—but not surprised—@SenateDems today blocked a generational investment in our military, including a pay increase for service members. Democrats have already caused the two longest shutdowns in American history. Just another example of Schumer bending the knee to far left radicals.
