We are grateful to the officers of the Nigerian Air Force who have provided support and guidance throughout this process, and we look forward to continued collaboration on the security of our dear State and nation.

Today, we took delivery of the two DA42MN-G aircraft procured by our administration for security surveillance and reconnaissance missions in Oyo State.

This morning, we held a remembrance service at the Cathedral of St Peter, Aremo, Ibadan, to mark the 14th anniversary of the passing of our father, Pa Olatubosun Makinde. Although it’s been over a decade, we still miss him dearly every day. May his gentle soul continue to rest in the bosom of our Lord.

Today, we received our children and teachers from Oriire LGA who were handed over to the Oyo State Government by the military. As I said in my remarks, we know it is a long road to recovery and we are fully committed to providing the necessary support.

Earlier today, we visited the victims of the Oriire LGA kidnapping incident where they are receiving treatment in Ibadan. We will continue to provide the necessary support needed for their full recovery and reunite them with their families.

We also remember civilians and military personnel who lost their lives during this process, our administration will ensure that they did not die in vain. May their souls rest in peace and may God continue to comfort their families.

Really grateful for the safe return of the children and teachers abducted from Oriire LGA 56 days ago. Our priority now is to ensure they are reunited with their families and support their rehabilitation after this traumatic experience.
We also commend the security agencies that took part in the rescue operations for their sacrifices. May the souls of those who paid the ultimate price rest in peace and may God comfort their families.

Over the weekend, we were pleased to meet with a team from Saba Exports Ltd, an advance sugar industrial technology company based in India, led by their managing director, Khan Waseem Akhlaq. The team are in Oyo State to work on pre-commissioning and commissioning phases of the Oyo Sugar and Derivatives Industries Limited factory - a private investment based in Iseyin.

We are looking forward to the commencement of operations at Oyo Sugar and Derivatives Industries Limited as it will mean over 500 additional jobs created as well as collaboration with about 1,000 sugarcane farmers in the State. The factory is projected to produce 24��27 tonnes of brown sugar and 18 tonnes of molasses daily.

Earlier today, we received a team from the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (@CGIAR) Institute led by Dr Sandra Milach, the Chief Scientist of CGIAR in a closed-door meeting. Also in the entourage were Dr Simeon Ehui, Director General International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (@IITA_CGIAR) and Dr Bernard Vanlauwe, IITA’s Deputy Director General for Research for Development.

Our discussions centred on appreciation of the role of the Oyo State Government in hosting IITA for almost 60 years and the support received on partnerships in the last seven years. We also discussed continued collaboration between the Oyo State Government and CGIAR centres through IITA, especially how science and innovations from the centres could further support the agricultural transformation of Nigeria and its food security.

Today, we met with protesters in Ibadan led by Martins Otse (VeryDarkMan). The group, who have remained peaceful, are protesting to demand the rescue of the abducted children and teachers from Oriire LGA a month and one day ago. Watch the clip of our interaction.

We received a delegation from the European Union (EU) led by the Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, His Excellency Gautier Mignot which included Prof Leila Ben Amor Mathieu. Our discussions centred on the ongoing partnership between the EU and Oyo State.

Specific areas of cooperation discussed include Climate Smart Agriculture under the Global Gateway Investment Strategy as the EU has interests in the value chain in the dairy and cocoa sectors. We also discussed ongoing collaborations on Education, Social Protection and the fight against Gender-Based Violence and future collaborations on Tourism.

All in all, we had a very productive meeting and look forward to strengthening our partnerships for the benefit of our citizens. I also had a private meeting with the ambassador afterwards.

Today, we held the swearing in ceremony for the new Head of Service, Dr (Mrs) Adenike Ayobami Fasina, mni and two new commissioners, Dr Lateef Idowu Oyeleke who will be in charge of Special Duties and Barr. Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo who will be in charge of Budget and Economic Planning. Alhaja Ajoke Fausat Sanni who was in charge of the Ministry of Special Duties will move to the Ministry of Trade, Industry, Investment and Cooperatives.
In my remarks, I welcomed the new appointees to the Oyo State Executive Council and encouraged them to give their best to serve our dear State in the time that we have left.

Grateful to my brother, His Excellency Bala Mohammed who led the leadership of the Allied Peoples' Movement on a visit to commiserate with us over the abduction of our children and teachers in Oriire LGA.

It's been about one month since the incident. Together with the security agencies, we are doing everything possible to ensure they are safely returned to their families who have been in anguish. We will not relent until they are all back home where they belong.

Yesterday, we visited my brother, Chief Adebayo Adelabu to commiserate with him over the kidnapping of his younger sister and her children. I assured him that the security agencies are working towards their safe return, and we discussed some of the measures our administration is putting in place to further strengthen our security architecture in Oyo State.

We received an entourage led by Air Officer Commanding Logistics Command, Abubakar Abdul Suleh who represented the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke on a courtesy visit today. The visit gave us an opportunity to appreciate the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) for their assistance especially during the current security challenge in Oyo State.

The surveillance missions carried out by officers of NAF have given us tremendous insights into what the ground troops are facing. As I said during one of my updates, the surveillance aircraft which our administration procured for Oyo State is currently at the Air Force Base in Lagos. We look forward to receiving the assembled aircraft very soon so that it can be used for the purpose for which it was procured.

Earlier today, I signed Executive Order No. 2 of 2026 on the Regulation and Enforcement of Vehicle Registration and Traffic Management in Oyo State to enhance security across our State. This includes a restriction on the operations of commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as Okada riders between the hours of 10:30 p.m. and 5:30 a.m. throughout Oyo State.

In my remarks, I restated our commitment to ensuring the safe return of our children and teachers who were abducted from Oriire LGA. I said that we may not be able to disclose every step being taken because of the sensitive nature of the operations involved, but asked our people not to mistake our silence for inaction. Today, we met with representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), who led a protest to the Oyo State Secretariat Agodi, Ibadan.

After listening to their concerns, I assured them that government at the national, State and local levels are working together to ensure the safe return of our children and teachers who were abducted in Oriire LGA. I said that we will continue to prioritise the safety and well-being of residents of our dear State, and that we are open to feedback regarding the security of Oyo State.
