Day 3 of HELL WEEK has come and gone. We mixed in a little technique today. It’s all about getting better, pushing yourself beyond your limits, 150% effort, finishing, separating the real from the fake and creating trust and confidence in your brothers. Today is Day 4…it gets harder.

People often measure a football program by championships, scholarships, and wins. Those things matter—but they aren’t what define us.

The true impact of coaching happens far away from the stadium lights.

Yesterday, I took a group of young men from SFA Academy Football camping,kayaking and fishing together. For some, it was their very first time. Think about that for a moment. Experiences that many people take for granted were brand-new memories for these young men.

Some of our players are growing up without a father in their lives. That reality reminds us that coaching is about much more than drawing up plays or preparing for Friday nights. It’s about showing up every day. It’s about listening, teaching, encouraging, and leading by example. Sometimes, it’s simply being the consistent adult who believes in them when they need it most.

Every campfire conversation, every cast into the water, every laugh shared, and every lesson learned strengthens the brotherhood that makes a football team become a family.

At SFA Academy, we are building more than football players. We are building leaders, husbands, fathers, and men of character who will make a positive impact long after their playing days are over.

Years from now, these young men probably won’t remember every score or every tackle. But they’ll remember the coaches who invested in them, the teammates who became brothers, and the moments that made them believe they were capable of something greater.

That’s why I coach.

Because changing a young man’s life will always be more important than changing the scoreboard.
