احتفاءً باليوم العالمي للعمارة، جمع حوار "حديث الحكمة" الذي أُقيم بالتعاون مع دار كاف للنشر، المهندسَين المعماريين علي إسماعيل كريمي وحامد بوخمسين، إلى جانب سارة العمران، في نقاش حول كتابهما «ألفا عام من التاريخ خارج المدن».⠀

تناول الحوار تاريخ العمارة في شبه الجزيرة العربية خارج نطاق المدن، مسلطاً الضوء على ممارسات التخطيط قبل عصر النفط، بدءاً من أنظمة المياه وصولاً إلى تشكّلات المشهد الطبيعي، وما تقدّمه هذه الممارسات من رؤى جديدة لفهم علاقة العمارة ببيئتها وسياقها المحيط.⠀

ودعا النقاش إلى النظر إلى ما وراء حدود المدن، واكتشاف الحكايات والمعارف التي تختزنها المناظر الطبيعية في المنطقة.⠀

In celebration of World Architecture Day, a HOWTalk in collaboration with Kaph Books brought together a discussion around Two Thousand Years of Non-Urban History by architects Ali Ismail Karimi and Hamed Bukhamseen, with Sara Al Omran.⠀
⠀
The conversation explored the architectural history of the Arabian Peninsula beyond its cities, examining pre-oil planning practices, from water systems to landscape formations, and how these offer new perspectives on architecture’s relationship with its environment and context.⠀
⠀
The discussion invited us to look beyond city boundaries and discover the stories and knowledge embedded in the region’s landscapes.

ضمن برنامج «مواهب بيت الحكمة» لشهر أكتوبر، تعرفوا على إيفا خضر، الفنانة الأوكرانية الشابة التي نشأت في منطقة الخان بالشارقة، واكتشفوا في أعمالها الفنية أبعاد العلاقة بين الإنسان والطبيعة، وما تجسده الطبيعة من قدرة على التكيف والصمود رغم التحديات. تأخذنا أعمال إيفا في رحلة تأملية لاستكشاف أثر الإنسان في الطبيعة، واستلهام معاني الصبر والإصرار منها، واستعادة الشعور بالسكينة والارتباط بالعالم من حولنا.⠀
انضموا كذلك إلى إيفا في ورشة «طبيعة الألوان المائية» بتاريخ 17 أكتوبر، لتجربة تقنيات الرسم بالألوان المائية واستكشاف جمالها وعفويتها، والتواصل مع الطبيعة من خلال الفن، في تجربة إبداعية تناسب المبتدئين والراغبين في تطوير مهاراتهم الفنية.⠀

Meet Eva Khuder, a young Ukrainian artist raised in Sharjah’s Al Khan area, as part of our October Talents-in-House. Through her art, explore the bond between people and nature, its resilience in the face of change, and the calm and inspiration it offers us.⠀
Join Eva on 17 October for her “The Nature of Watercolour” workshop to discover the beauty and spontaneity of watercolour, connect with nature through art, and explore new techniques in a creative session for beginners and aspiring artists alike.

Through her exhibition Nature Vs. Humans, artist Eva Khuder explores the relationship between people, nature, and the places we call home.

وفي ورشة «اصنع قصتك قطعةً بقطعة»، استكشف المشاركون كيف يمكن للصور والألوان والملامس والخامات المختلفة أن تتكامل لتروي حكاية بصرية تعبر عن ذكرى أو شخص أو مكان يحمل معنى خاصاً.⠀

As part of September’s Talents-in-House, we met Emirati visual artist Aryam Almusallam, who shared her artistic journey through Al-Mariyah: Still Growing, inspired by a family necklace passed down through generations of women, carrying memories and stories.⠀
In the Piece by Piece workshop, participants explored how images, colours, textures and materials can come together to tell a visual story inspired by a meaningful memory, person or place.⠀

ويأتي هذا التعاون ضمن برنامج ثقافي وتعليمي يجمع بين المعرفة المتخصصة والتطبيق العملي في تاريخ فن المجوهرات، وعالم الأحجار الكريمة، وتقنيات صناعة المجوهرات، بما يثري تجربة جمهور الشارقة، ويعزز فرص التعلم والاستكشاف والإبداع في عالم المجوهرات.⠀

Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), inaugurated the L’ÉCOLE Library Corner at House of Wisdom, as part of a three-year partnership between House of Wisdom and L’ÉCOLE, School of Jewelry Arts, supported by Van Cleef & Arpels.⠀
The collaboration brings specialised knowledge and hands-on learning in jewelry arts, gemstones and Savoir-Faire to Sharjah, inspiring learning, exploration and creativity.

ضمن سلسلة «حديث الحكمة»، سعدنا باستضافة معالي الشيخة لبنى بنت خالد القاسمي، إحدى أبرز القيادات الإماراتية الرائدة وأول امرأة تتولى حقيبة وزارية في الدولة، احتفاءً بيوم المرأة الإماراتية، حيث استحضرت معاليها دور المرأة الإماراتية في بناء الأجيال وترسيخ القيم الأصيلة، مؤكدةً أن تفرغ المرأة لتربية أبنائها إسهام عظيم في بناء الإنسان وصناعة المستقبل، لما يتركه من أثر عميق وممتد في حياة الأجيال.⠀
وخلال الجلسة التي أدارتها شيخة المطيري، أكدت معاليها أهمية أن تحدد كل امرأة أهدافها وتسعى إلى تحقيقها، وأن تستثمر الفرص التعليمية المتنوعة التي توفرها لها دولتنا، بالجد والاجتهاد والالتزام وتحمل المسؤولية.⠀

As part of our ‘HoW Talks’, we were honoured to host H.E. Sheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, a prominent Emirati leader and the UAE’s first female minister, in celebration of Emirati Women’s Day.⠀
Sheikha Lubna highlighted the role of Emirati women in raising generations and preserving core values, noting that raising children is a meaningful contribution to building people and shaping the future.⠀
Moderated by Shaikha Almteiri, the session also highlighted the importance of setting goals, making the most of educational opportunities, and pursuing them with commitment, hard work and responsibility.
