As a former news reporter and GM of a highly rated tv station, this is unprecedented. She is giving any subject of a story a kill switch. We are losing our free press. Autocratic regimes dismantle the free press to consolidate power and suppress dissent.

Based on limited data—since arrest records don't track political affiliation—studies show higher murder rates in red states (e.g., 24% higher avg. 2000-2022 per Third Way/CDC). Right-wing extremism linked to more deadly incidents (58 deaths 2017-2022 per ADL) than left-wing. Thus, MAGA-aligned operatives statistically appear more likely.
Happy 150th! One of my favorite Florida facts is that the author of the 1887 book Oranges & Alligators: Sketches of South Florida never got farther south than Orlando. Florida was America’s last frontier, it’s still a new idea, and we’re still making such a mess of it.
