Thanks for posting this @kiranshaw .. though I also believe the real value of #AI will come when there are no walled gardens around it .. like in science ..
What happened if someone chiselled a nose on just one of the sculptures wrong ? Did the whole temple need to be carved out again? Yet, they did not get it wrong .. how?
Carved downwards out of a single piece of rock , with no tools other than hammers and chisels ..
.. detail of carvings and sculptures within the temple are not just exquisite , but absolutely precise and accurate in form and in geometry.. from top to bottom
.. that’s a mystery greater than the mystery of the Pyramids of Giza…
The system of mathematics in ancient India came down from our scriptures and formed the basis of a lot of our music ( Taal ) , art and architecture, .. our Philosophy was not linear .. but circular .. where the finite met the infinite again and again in concentric circles .. like how the Universe is ..
The closest modern science now comes to it is what we call Quantum computing , Quantum entanglement . The theories on which Google has built the ‘Willow’ .. the words fastest Quantum Computer.
The British changed our education system and made it linear. The colonizers did not have any understanding or knowledge of Quantum .. we did .. but over time of colonisation.. we lost the knowledge and Wisdom ..
.. yes, Wisdom too .. for knowledge without Wisdom is dry , with the true and wider meaning squeezed out of it .
No wonder that when the greatest Indian Mathematician of all time was asked how he solved some of the most perplexing questions that all the greatest physicists and mathematicians in world were unable to solve ..
Ramanujan replied ..
..’My Devi comes to me.. ‘

Main Wapas Aunga was an emotional
upheaval me. I saw on film the story of my own family. The having to escape with your life. The slaughter on the trains. Running between two Nations suddenly.
For years my parents refused to talk about it. The memories were too intense. Painful
Then slowly my mother narrated everything to my sister ,Sohaila. And everything unfolded on screen for me. Just as my mother had described ..
Like Diljit Dosanjh in the film, I too went back to Lahore to search for where my family lived .. what I found is yet another story ..
Thank you Imtiaz Ali, for bringing those memories alive for me. I can’t remember crying like this in a film for a long long time. ..
… for so much like the absolutely brilliant Naseeruddin Shah in the film, my father .. who was a very modern man, and a famous doctor in Delhi .. would say to me when he was in his 90’s
‘I hope I can see Lahore once again before I die ..
He never did ..

The whole world suddenly is talking about Microdrama’s. They should.
In China the current value in is almost $ 150 billion by end of 2026.. That nearly twice the annual box office of their films at a fraction of the cost.
Indian Microdrama market is valued at US 1.5 Billion in 2026 .. and to give it context, Indian Theatrical Box office is also $ 1.5 Billion for 2026 !
But do not expect a Mughale Azam, a Sholay , Mr India or a Masoom to arise from a MicroDrama !
For that’s not the bussiness , MicroDrama is a bussiness of scale .. which is why the rush to invest and grab a massive market share comes first from technology companies and existing platforms .. and AI now offers huge opportunities for scaling production more efficiently and economically ..
But Story Telling ?
Scale plus AI may be a compelling bussiness vision .. but does story telling lend itself to scale ?
That remains to be seen. I’ve been evolving the script of Masoom 2 for years now .. and am finally ready shoot ..
So Masoom is no MicroDrama ..
For MicroDrama still needs to define itself .. is it a great bussiness idea ?
Yes.
Will Great Stories come out of it ?
Time will tell ..

@shekharkapur Obviously speaking from experience because I remember reading when Masoom released, it found no takers in the first week. Then word of mouth spread and you saw happier days. Remember seeing Masoom in the theatres as a kid, it was beyond amazing. Naseer still brilliant then vs now
Thank you Imtiaz Ali. With your film Main Wapaas Aaunga , you busted the myth that the first week box office defines the future of your film.
You proved what counts is a great story well told..
What counts is respect for your audiences

@IAmSudhirMishra Who could forget Tom Alter .. we used to go running on Juhu Beach together .. of course he was much fitter than I was .. and his Hindi too was so much better than mine .. always smiling ..
Always exciting to watch him in a state of ecstasy as he is composing. A R Rahman and Sohaila Kapur ( lyrics) at a recording for songs for Masoom-the Next Generation.. Rahman is also Co Producing the film ..
