Shoko Festival

Zimbabwe's longest running festival of urban culture. A celebration of free expression, cutting edge urban art and alternative youth culture.

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲: 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗔𝗿𝘁

In 2025, we sent a dragonfly to Glastonbury Festival. This year, the exchange came full circle at Shoko Festival, with a mobile stage crafted from scraps of old warfare materials, ready to carry music, creativity and peace into communities.

Our collaboration with Arcadia and In Place Of War is proof that art can travel, transform and bring communities together!

This was a reminder that the best things we can build from our past are new possibilities.

16 years. One festival. A whole generation's voice. 🎙️

Comrade Fatso covers WOZA Issue 03 — Shoko Unmuted.

Plus: the Palm Club, 4 Zim artists to watch & Tahle Wedzinza's musical quest.

𝗦𝗼𝗸𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱𝗻’𝘁 𝗯𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗸𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀.

Big love to Audio Imperatives @abahlalibM @BoyMeetsBeard, Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe, @civictechafrica, Ground Work, CHARM Africa, CDEA, CCOSA, Defend Defenders, Econet, Emerald Climate Hub, Future Africa, @MAZ_Zim, @IMChallengeug , Harare Polytechnic, @thrive_afrika, Phenomenal Lighting, Gripwell Investments, University of Zimbabwe and Zaluso Arts for coming through for the culture.

For backing a space where music meets ideas, art has no boundaries, young people can be unapologetically themselves, and everyone has room to speak, create, question and just be.
That’s the Shoko of it all.

Different voices, different vibes, one space where culture does its thing.

16 years in. UNMUTED.
