Yesterday’s terror attack wasn’t an isolated incident, it was the latest attack on the Jewish community for being Jewish.

Today I spoke with volunteers, first responders from Shomrim and Hatzola to thank them for their bravery.

I know that this is a deeply worrying time for the whole community.

My government is taking immediate action.

We’ve increased enhanced funding for police patrols and protective security and we’re fast-tracking legislation to deal with malign state actors.

My message to Jewish people is this: you belong here, and we will do everything we can to keep you safe.

I am appalled by recent attempted antisemitic arson attacks in North London. 

This is abhorrent and it will not be tolerated. Attacks on our Jewish community are attacks on Britain.

Tomorrow, the Jerusalem District Planning & Building Committee will hear objections to plans to build a hotel adjacent to St Andrew’s Church, the only Church of Scotland church in Jerusalem. The UK opposes the plan which would suffocate the historic church and its activities.

Yesterday, as the final hostage was laid to rest, 10 members of another hostage family were left homeless when Israeli authorities destroyed their house in the Negev. This is exceptionally brutal treatment of the already traumatised Zayadnah family.
