Our recent paper will be highlighted in the backcover of one of the next @ChemicalScience issues. I thank my collaborators @DJKimLab @SimonDai0517 @BertonCesare, and MUR and @snsf_ch for having made this research possible. Here is the updated link: https://t.co/BvOEbPOYGH

[Fraser Stoddart @sirfrasersays]

The fundamental message from this research is that it’s possible when substrates are bound in nano-sized receptors for one binding source to become dominant over all the others, i.e., many a mickle makes a muckle doesn’t always have to rule the roost. @NUChemistry @HKU_Chemistry

[Aspen Chen @xychenchem]

Electrostatic interactions turn out to be a dominant factor in determining the pre-organization of carboxylate guests in CD-MOFs. This observation could open up many opportunities for engineering chemical reactions in confined spaces. @Dengke_Shen @sirfrasersays @HKU_Chemistry

A key point is that the time honored concept of a "driving force" for transition between two states away from equilibrium is wrong. Each trajectory has a "driving force" - some forward and some backward - but it is kinetic asymmetry that selects which dominates.
