Paarthurnax is a distinctly Christian character archetype.
A creature, born evil, and imbued with the belief of it being natural and normal. His very name describing his nature, his purpose: the cruel, ambitious tyrant.
And yet, after centuries of this life he turned his back on it. Devoted himself to helping those who he'd ruled over, who he'd treated as nothing more than beasts to be used and consumed. Devoted himself to their goddess, their guardian, and to teaching these weak beings, the joor, the mortals how to defend themselves from his kin, how to be free. And in penance, both for his actions and for betraying his own kind, he retreats unto the Throat of the World, so he may meet the last Dragonborn, the last hero of man, the Shezzarine. To teach him to slay a god, and to accept his judgement, whatever it may be. He does not even resist, should you try to kill him.
In Christian terms, Paarthurnax would be remembered as a saint.
