Average is acceptable.

Until you decide you want to be great.

“There’s no problem with average. Except in my business.” — Curt Cignetti 🔥

Excellence requires a different standard.

Raise it. Live it. Never settle.

Proud to introduce our 2026 captains. These three young men join a long list of Chieftains chosen as leaders and representatives of their teammates.

Congratulations to seniors Wyatt Allen, Ethan Courtney, and Ty Gonzalez!

Bill Cowher says assistant coaches are more important than the head coach, and explains why he coached his coaches instead of his players:

“There’s a lot more going on behind the scenes. Let’s be respectful of the fact that we don’t know everything. That’s the receiver’s fault.’ How do you know?”

“You weren’t in that meeting room. The game is chess. It’s not checkers.”

“We look at the head coaches, but let’s look at the assistant coaches. To me, those are more important. I didn’t coach the players as a head coach. I coached the coaches.”

“I wanted them to have that relationship with the player, not just me. If intervention was needed, I would intervene. But let them do their thing.”

“Let the coaches call their games. Let the coaches coach the individual players. You can see it from afar and coach the coaches. That’s how you give them a chance to become a head coach.”
