This guy is awesome.
Only thing I didn't like was when I accidently ran into him and had to wait for his animation to play out before I could rush to the healer for a potion!
@LightningShade0 This is kind of how the death log works also. I will persist between different "runs" - I was thinking that if the player ever selected "New Game" and there was anything in the death log, I would prompt the player whether they wanted to restart the log or not. What do you think?
Would it be a Sierra-style game without humorous deaths? ๐
Let's take it a step further!
Betrayed Alliance Book 2 tracks which deaths you've found and the number as well.
What gruesome fates do you think wait for you in the Verlorn Forest?

@TheSpecialKarl Good ideas. I'm actually working on a white highlight right now. I really like the darkened corners, too. I might have to work that in!
@FerroRapax Sure, I'm using SCI Companion, a freeware studio you can use to create *almost* all the resources you need to make a true-to-form SCI0 game (or SCI1 for that matter).
It has editors for Pics, Views, Scripts, Cursors, etc.

@tandemar The vectors are rendered as pixels, yes, but the creation is stored in a list of drawing commands (see pic).

Timelapse Tuesday!
Building authentic 80s/90s SCI0 backgrounds, vector-by-vector
Using vector-based art saved on disk space against bitmaps (often being 1-10% the size).
This one is 8KB

One thing I really like about the art in Colonel's Bequest is the use of shadows, or in this case, light.
EGA is great for having harsh contrast, which may not appeal to everyone, but I just love it!
Anything stick out to you about this background?
