@ToriatheistTori You do realize that there was no student loan crisis until the Government, under Obama, took over management of all student loans right?
The answer is never more Government interference; the answer is to let people manage their own lives and make their own decisions..
Yet you still vote for the same party that brought you this mess.
The price for your labor is down because there's too much Supply for the Demand.
The price of goods is up because there too much Demand for the Supply.
Now you post this fucking meme on X bitching while advocating for the Democrat party who's goal is to globalize everything; which ensures you compete with immigrants or foreign labor for your job.
Wake the fuck up, the Government is not your friend and the Left isn't there to help you.
@mcsquared34 Then you need to start pushing hard to limit the labor pool in the country so that wages will increase. Supply and demand ALWAYS dictate the price of a thing.
Jared had the wrong context. He questioned whether a black pilot hired for his skin color would be qualified.
Color of your skin doesn't dictate your aptitude. I've taken flights where the pilot was black, didn't bother me at all because I knew the airlines wouldn't put an unqualified pilot in the captain's chair.
DEI on the other hand doesn't take into account skill, it dictates quota by skin color. What happens if there are not enough people of x criteria with the proper qualifications? If DEI is the law you have to have the proper percentage of x criteria regardless, corners will be cut to comply with the law. That becomes dangerous.
I'm confused. You know Biden opened the border right?
Look, Obama did things I both agreed and disagreed with. Like all POTUS since I've been alive.
Obama DID NOT allow anyone who could make it thru the Southern board to stay in country. That's what Trump ran on, Biden's policy of allowing illegals to bum rush the border.
Neither Obama or Trump are perfect POTUS. But both are a shit ton better than Biden.
Every year there are Ebola outbreaks in the Congo. USAID was a slush fund for leftist causes funded by the US Taxpayer.
Elon Musk didn't gut USAID he just pointed out where the money given to USAID was going. The Trump Admin then gutted USAID and rightfully so.
I'm tired of leaches like @SenSanders stealing my money or running up debts that my grandchildren are on the hook to pay all so they can gain a little more power over the people.
Sanders is a huckster wanna be Communist who's main goal is his own personal enrichment using the power of the State. Spare me your righteous indignation.
So all poor people are criminals? I was very poor when I was younger and I didn't commit a crime.
The VAST majority of poor people are not criminals, so it's not poverty that's causing crime. It's a lack of personal ethics.
Also, stop with the Communist bullshit. In a Communist country not supported by a Capitalist Economy EVERYONE but the party elite is poor.
The problem with your assertion (and you're not 100% wrong.) is that on top of property taxes we're also charged for the services mentioned on a monthly basis. Only schools don't have a separate monthly charge. Some localities (Omaha, NE) are taxed when registering their vehicles every year for road maintenance. (Their roads SUCK! Think war torn Ukraine.)
The issue with property taxes is the valuation is set by the local government (usually the county). It's not based on market value, it's based on how much the homeowner will put up with before they fight the valuation.
Here in Florida they're pushing for Homestead exemptions for permanent residents. Not sure what can be done in other parts of the country but maybe citizens in each county should work to come up with a different method and place that on the ballot.
There's got to be a better method.
They played the same game but there were different rules.
American workers are having trouble making it because they're competing with 3rd world workers for jobs. That wasn't the case for "Boomers". That's the difference. Working a manufacturing job back in the 50's & 60's paid well enough to afford the things you mention.
But those jobs moved overseas.
First they told us that we didn't want the manufacturing jobs, we wanted the high-tech jobs (better paying they said.)
Then the started importing people from overseas to take the high-tech jobs Americans wanted. Then they outsourced those jobs to a foreign country entirely.
I had a boss who told me I didn't want those high-tech jobs, I wanted a management job that paid better. Guess what? They outsourced the management jobs as well.
Wages for American workers are always behind the cost of living because we're forced to compete with people who will work for a wage that will not support an American lifestyle in America.
Until you deal with what is causing these issues, nothing will change.
Suggestions:
15 year moratorium on all immigration, period.
Anyone in the country here illegally must be deported, they can file to come back if they leave voluntarily.
100% tariff on any goods produced outside the US, no exceptions.
Tax credits for companies who pay to train Americans to do the jobs that foreigners took or were outsourced.
There are ways to fix these problems. It's just that nobody has balls enough to do them.
Yes! It's what we have now that everyone is bitching about. Because we're NOT a Capitalist society anymore. The Economy is controlled by the Federal Government. Labor supply and demand are controlled by the Government. Why the hell do you think wages don't keep up with inflation, besides the fact the Fed printed money like a counterfeiter...
You should be screaming for SMALLER government and more personal freedom, that's what leads to prosperity.
"The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money." - Margaret Thatcher
None of the items you list are Socialist. Zero. Everything you mentioned except the military is private sector; heavily regulated by a corrupt government but still private sector. The Military is not Socialist, it's Dictatorial due to it's nature.
Everyone blames Capitalism for today's problems but ignore the fact we're no longer a Capitalist society. The Federal Government is now more Communist than Representative Republic. They pick which companies will be winners and losers; That's Socialism.
Today's problems are not because of a small government in a Capitalistic society; they can all be traced back to a bloated HUGE government that dictates everything to their citizens.
P.S. California didn't burn down because one person owned all the water. The authorities in the Government refused to release the water to be used to fight the fire until it was too late.
And insurance companies stiffed the homeowners because the government allowed them to break their contracts. Same shit happened down here in SW Florida after hurricane Ian. That's not Capitalism, that's Socialism at work. The Government partnered with the Corporations to allow unlawful actions.
Yea, the US had nothing to do with supplying the Soviets with materials.
Guess the Soviets also fought on the Western front.
The historical revisionism on X is astounding. I'm not here to invalidate the heroism and contributions of the Soviet military during WWII.
I will call out the fact that the Soviets fought on the Eastern front against the Nazi's while the US fought on ALL fronts during WWII.
Your assertion that the US exists because the Soviets saved us a total bullshit and shows the narrow view you hold on a world wide war.
So, Socialism has a magic money fairy to keep it running? Or does Socialism have a job?
You've got it exactly backward.
Under Capitalism an individual voluntarily trades their time and skills for something of value from another. Each profits from the transaction and gets what they desire.
Socialism steals from each individual and gives back a portion to those it deems have a "need". The State determines who has the need which breeds corruption.
NOTE: The US no longer has a Capitalistic economy. The US has Cronyism (a form of Socialism) where the State picks winners and losers.
Please stop the criticizing Capitalism by pointing a Left leaning non-Capitalistic Governments.
Yea, we had the same problems in the 80's.
If you follow economic theory you understand this imbalance issue started in the 70's when they allowed US manufacturing jobs to be shipped overseas.
Companies realized they could increase the supply of labor with Government intervention.
Everyone points to the 50's & 60's where the husband working a fulltime manufacturing job was able to afford a house, car, wife, children; in essence the American Dream.
That no longer applies because the American worker is being forced to compete with foreign labor. Labor supply is much higher than demand; hence lower wages and hours.
You can blame the corporations if you want but there were measures in place until Nixon that prevented this out and insourcing to occur.
The US Government did actually have the American worker's back. And the Unions were there to force the issue. Neither has the backs of the US worker anymore. Both have sold out, the politicians for votes and power and the unions for dues and money.
If you want the old days back you have to ensure the supply of labor reflects our population AND control the number of people allowed to immigrate.
NOTE: Other countries provide these protection for their workers, the US doesn't because they're corrupt.
