Strengthening last-mile access to primary healthcare, Smile Foundation, in partnership with HDFC Bank under its CSR initiative Parivartan, has launched 4 Mobile Care Units (MCUs) in Uttarakhand.
The units were officially flagged off by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, at the CM House in Dehradun. During the interaction, the Government appreciated the initiative and encouraged its expansion to reach more underserved areas across the state.
These MCUs aim to deliver essential primary healthcare services at the doorstep of communities, ensuring timely access to consultations, basic diagnostics, and preventive care in regions where access remains limited.
Launched as part of HDFC Bank Parivartan’s commitment to last-mile healthcare, the project focuses on bridging critical gaps in regions where terrain and limited resources often restrict access to essential services. Alongside treatment, the programme will also promote preventive healthcare through awareness sessions on hygiene, nutrition, and overall well-being.
We thank HDFC Bank Parivartan for partnering with us in this journey of reaching more lives with every mile and spread.

My grandsons want to become pilots in the Indian Air Force.
We live in a remote village in Odisha, where life is simple and opportunities are not always easy to find. They first learnt about the defence services in school, and since then, they have started speaking about serving the country.
I feel very happy listening to them. Their dreams are innocent, but they also carry a sense of courage. They study with sincerity, ask questions, and often talk about what they learn in class.
Life has not been easy for our family. Their father works as a daily labourer far away from home because we do not have land of our own. He returns only after many months, and the children miss him. Their mother manages the home with very little, but she makes sure their studies continue.
I do not know what they will become when they grow up. Maybe they will become pilots, maybe life will take them somewhere else. I only pray that they grow up to be good human beings, respect others, work hard, and never forget where they come from.
Their dreams bring into our home the hope we need most.
Antresh and Jirimiya's Grandmother
They study in Class 2nd and Class 5th at Mission Education Centre Student in Kandhamal, Odisha.

High blood pressure rarely announces itself, but it can change a life without warning.
Hypertension is one of the most common yet often overlooked health concerns in underserved communities. Many people continue with daily life without knowing that their blood pressure is rising, until it leads to serious complications affecting the heart, brain, kidneys or overall well-being.
On World Hypertension Day, Smile Foundation highlights the need for early screening, regular monitoring and timely care.
Through Smile on Wheels, our mobile medical units help bring hypertension screening and basic care closer to communities. Blood pressure checks, doctor consultations, medicines, follow-ups and health awareness enable people to understand the risks, seek timely support and make healthier everyday choices.
For families with limited access to healthcare, this becomes critical. A simple blood pressure check can often be the first step towards preventing a much bigger health crisis.
