@Jihoz_Axie@gabusch@AxieInfinity This is a post about a journey with Axie since I joined in July to where I and my scholars are today. The most rewarding part of this experience has been the connection to the scholars and the sense of team & family that we have.
1/18 I setup Snack AX Scholarships in July after guidance from a couple of people, including paying someone a small fee to help buy teams, recruit a couple of scholars from PH and setup systems. (people participate in Axie in so many different ways!)
18/18 I have staked some AXS on Ronin, purchased YGG (missed out on the launch), and look forward to the Ronin DEX, V2 and much more to come …. Love this city called Axie Infinity!
17/18 Our 1st scholar and 3rd scholar are due to have their baby in the next week or so. The only present I can think of giving them is to further enable their financial freedom through Axie (team/fund/ownership) as it will compound and change their lives further.
16/18 I don’t put pressure on for meeting a quota, but actively encourage, motivate, coach, share tactics and socials in discord, whilst asking for feedback about their teams. We also use our senior lead and players to step in as guides & collaborators.
15/18 I have added a couple more scholars in the last week and am looking at Pathways to enable those with maybe less gaming skills to be able to play & improve over time. This was identified through feedback and discussions with our scholars.
13/18 I detailed how they could reinvest their SLP earned from this team into more teams to allow growth of passive income which would accelerate as numbers increased. and then I funded the team and they agree to pay off over time. Strength in family & in numbers!
12/18 I suggested our scholars could have equal ownership of a new team, they could fund via SLP over 2-3 paydays and they can decide if they wanted to take the income from this or reinvest for another team after it had provided enough SLP to do so.
11/18 Graduation? After we onboarded the 10th scholar, I proposed the concept of an exit strategy or graduation for scholars. Essentially this was to get that financial independence or head start.
10/18 I send out updates daily in their stats, and provide comments and motivation and daily engagement, yet I don’t play their game… I’m playing a different part of Axie Infinity.
9/18 I have been a manager and leader in the past and mentoring / coaching people is a real comfort zone for me. Giving people my thoughts, time, guidance, and providing encouragement and recognition in different ways is rewarding.
8/18 Our scholars are working, studying or unemployed and have varying degrees of financial need from what I observe. Some had their work halted last year and haven’t been able to return nor find another.
7/18 Getting in front of the investment is a little harder / slower than I thought but irrespective of all the worries I might have, I am REALLY enjoying the role I have here.
6/18 I did this at a time Axie prices were peaking, meta continues to change, and I think about how deep I’m in. We start pay at 50% and increase with tenure but I would like to move our scholars splits closer to 70% sooner rather than later (h/t to @YieldGuild).
4/18 As I’m a part-time muso (backyard hacker), I got my fellow bandmates to throw in some $ for another team but with a specific request to fund a fellow musician-gamer who was looking for the opportunity (bands helping bands!)
2/18 After breeding some Axie, we bought on the next scholars who were girlfriends of the first two, including one pregnant due in Nov. After the couple’s first payday I was sent a picture of all the baby gear they were able to purchase as a result– such a good vibe!
