I was received in audience today by Her Excellency Ms. Marie-Édith Tassyla-Ye-Doumbeneny, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, in charge of Integration and the Diaspora, of the Gabonese Republic.
On this occasion, I presented her with copies of my credentials. Our discussions also focused on the implementation of UNOCA’s mandate, the success of the transition in Gabon, UNSAC’s activities, political dialogue, and peace and security issues in the subregion.
Participated at the Extraordinary Session of the AU Summit on Africa's #Health as part of the delegation of the Chairperson of the AU Commission. The successful Summit was hosted by H.E. @JDMahama, President of the Republic of Ghana in Accra yesterday.
The Summit brought together African leaders & partners to advance collective action towards ending AIDS & tuberculosis, improving maternal & child health, strengthening resilient health systems, & accelerating Universal Health Coverage across the continent.

The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hon. Abdulfatah Kasim Mohamud, together with the Deputy Minister, Abdirahman Yusuf Omar (Al-Adaala), the Director General, Abdullahi Hayir Ducale, the Manager of the National Council for Wisdom and Public Awareness, the Ministry's directors and its entire staff, extend their heartfelt condolences to the family, relatives and the whole Somali nation on the death of the national poet Abwaan Adan Tarabi Jama, may Allah have mercy on him, who passed away today in Hargeisa, in northwestern Somalia.
Abwaan Adan Tarabi was in his heyday a member of the national Waaberi troupe of poets and performers, a celebrated and wise artist who enriched the Somali language, culture and literature. May Allah grant him Jannah, and grant his family, relatives, friends and the entire Somali nation patience and faith.

Today I met with Ms. Vanessa Frazier @_VanessaFrazier, SRSG for children and armed conflict @childreninwar to discuss the security situation in Central african region, the role of @UN to address the issues of the child soldiers in charge conflict area. It was an opportunity to to discuss how @UNOCA_NEWS could contribute to address the situation of children impacted by armed conflict not only the Central African Region but globally.
Ambassador Mohamed Edrees, Permanent Observer of the #AU to the @UN, payed a courtesy visit to Under-Secretary-General Cristina Duarte, of @UNOSAA1 , who is ending her term. He expressed on behalf of the African Group in New York, high appreciation for her achievements and dedicated services in partnership with the @_AfricanUnion, acknowledging her important contribution in African development discussions and negotiations at the UN, aimed at enhancing the #AU-#UN efforts on the implementation of #Agenda2030 in alignment with #Agenda2063. Africa CDC salutes H.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan (@SuluhuSamia), President of the United Republic of Tanzania, for her leadership as @_AfricanUnion Champion for Maternal and Child Health.
Under her stewardship, Tanzania cut maternal mortality by 80% in seven years, a model now guiding her Continental Roadmap for Maternal, Newborn, Child and Adolescent Health and its #ThreeZeros agenda: zero maternal deaths, zero preventable newborn deaths, zero unvaccinated children.
This is what political leadership for health looks like.

Africa CDC salue S.E. Samia Suluhu Hassan, Présidente de la République-Unie de Tanzanie, pour son leadership en tant que Championne de l’Union africaine pour la santé maternelle et infantile.
Sous son leadership, la Tanzanie a réduit la mortalité maternelle de 80 % en sept ans, un modèle qui inspire aujourd’hui sa Feuille de route continentale pour la santé maternelle, néonatale, infantile et des adolescents, ainsi que son initiative des « Trois Zéros » : zéro décès maternel, zéro décès néonatal évitable et zéro enfant non vacciné.

This week, I was received at UN HQ by Ms. Elizabeth Spehar @ElizabethSpehar, Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support.
We discussed regional peace and security challenges, the importance of peaceful elections in advancing democracy and good governance, and the role of the Peacebuilding Support Office (PBSO), which remains a central pillar of the United Nations' peacebuilding efforts. I also met with Ms. Lisa Buttenheim, Assistant Secretary-General and Officer-in-Charge for Operational Support (DOS) @UN_OpSupport.
Discussion focused on the role of DOS (Department of Operational Support) and OSO (Office of Support Operations) for #UNOCA and its mandate as well as DOS role for global UN operations.
Today, I had the honor of being received by at the @UN HQ by MM. Jean-Pierre Lacroix @Lacroix_UN and Courtenay Rattray, respectively Under-Secretary-General for Peace Operations @UNPeacekeeping and Chef de Cabinet of the Executive Office of the Secretary-General (EOSG).
We discussed the political and security situation in Central African region, peace and security challenges, UNOCA's activities, its collaboration with the two PKOs in the region and the UN's efforts to address global peace and security through strategic coordination, preventive diplomacy and good offices.

In New York, as part of my new role as Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Central Africa and Head of @UNOCA_NEWS, I had the pleasure of meeting with H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Fathi Edrees, Permanent Observer of the @_AfricanUnion to the @UN.
Our discussions focused on political and security challenges in Central Africa, as well as on strengthening cooperation between UNOCA and the African Union to promote peace, stability, and integration in the #CEEAC region.
This meeting also provided an opportunity to greet, thank, and pay tribute to my former colleagues at the African Union Mission in New York @AfricanUnionUN, with whom I had the privilege of serving our continent.

I commend countries for the strong political declaration they adopted today at the @UN High-Level meeting on Global #RoadSafety, which aims to accelerate action to ensure more roads are designed for people first, not motor vehicles, with safety as priority.
All road deaths are preventable and none are acceptable.
