@IanGordonCraig I have! One of my faves. I still use my old 8 track for generating new ideas. The computer is too distracting and to tempting to "cheat" with loops and effects. I'm looking forward to having more time to write again properly when R starts school next September.
@IanGordonCraig Messing around with something microtonal, just for fun! I've got a rare day off work on my own, so just decided to plug in and see what comes out!
Macca's new album is still exploding my brain. He has a knack of creating melodies that are familiar but new. Life Can Be Hard is like a dreamy mash up of Say A Little Prayer, Killing Me Softly, I Will Survive and Your Mother Should Know & yet, it's also none of those things.
@IanGordonCraig He's always best when he sticks to his own thing. His guitar playing on this album is amazing. And I just love the way the melodies go off on weird tangents. His sense of melody is second to none. But it never sounds forced.
@IanGordonCraig P. S you're literally the only other person I know who has heard it. I've been bursting to chat about it with someone! I keep telling my dad he should listen to it, but he hasn't yet.
@IanGordonCraig Mine keep changing by the day. As You Lie There is up there. And Never Know has been stuck in my head all day. Lots of earworms on there! I think the only two that I'm not as into are Come Inside and Ripples in a Pond. But I'll probably change my mind at some point 😂
2/2 I grow weary of hyped up bands winning awards when all I hear are predictable chord sequences & no original melody. It's made me feel like quitting. What's the point, when my own stuff largely gets ignored? Thank you Paul McCartney for reigniting the flame.
1/2 It's crazy that I'm having to look to an 83 year old for inspiration. Part of being an artist is looking to other artists to bounce off of and feel motivated by. It's been so long since I've heard something that's made me want to grab my guitar and start experimenting.
