Pierce County Sheriff detectives have identified Hayes McCloud as a person of interest in connection to the homicide. We also believe Hayes McCloud is also connected to a second homicide that occurred about 30 minutes later.
Homicide Investigation, Puyallup WA
On July 8th at 2:40am, deputies responded to the 12500 block of Woodland Ave. E in Puyallup for reports of a male who had been located deceased in a home. We have no suspect in custody at this time.

We are currently investigating a death within the wooded area of Bradley Lake Park. Officers located a deceased adult male inside a tent earlier today. Detectives are on scene, and the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office is responding to assist with the investigation.
At this time, there is no threat to the public, and no individuals are outstanding. This appears to be an isolated incident.
We are sharing this information so parkgoers are aware of the police presence they may see in the area. Bradley Lake Park remains open, and we appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as investigators complete their work.

Police investigating a shooting in the 6000 block of Swift Ave S. 4 reported victims at this time. No suspects in custody. More information when available.
Puget Sound Fire and @KingCoMedicOne responded to a fireworks related incident in the 900 block of 2nd Avenue North. Three individuals were treated for critical injuries and transported to a Seattle area hospital by King County Medic One and Puget Sound Fire.
BRUSH FIRE + MAR122 RESPONSE
7/5/26: Around 3:30 AM, East Pierce Fire & Rescue crews responded to a reported brush fire.
Firefighters arrived to find an approximately 50-by-50-foot brush fire along the shoreline and two boats on fire. Crews on shore and aboard Marine 122 worked together to quickly contain the brush fire and extinguish the burning boats.
The Washington State Department of Ecology was called to assist following a fuel and oil spill from the burning boats. Marine 122 deployed containment booms to help keep the oil from spreading. East Pierce crews remain on scene assisting with recovery operations.
The cause remains under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
