The safety and well-being of our students is always a top priority for Stafford Municipal School District. As part of our ongoing commitment to safety, we’re reminding families about the importance of secure firearm storage.

In Texas, it is unlawful to leave an unsecured firearm in a place where a child is likely to be and can gain access to it. Under Texas Penal Code 46.13, a person may be criminally liable if a child gains access to a readily dischargeable firearm and the firearm was not properly secured or was left somewhere the person knew or should have known the child could access it.

Help prevent accidental access by remembering these three steps:

🔒 Store firearms
🔒 Store ammunition
🔒 Restrict access

A few simple safety steps can help protect your children and your family.
