New details in Jed York’s arrest in Ohio:

“Jed York used a fake name to text a person he believed was a prostitute over two days before he was arrested in a Sunday sting operation, according to an incident report obtained by the Chronicle.

On Saturday, York responded to an advertisement on a prostitution website, according to the report. He said his name was “Joe” and asked to arrange a visit. Some time passed without a response. York then messaged again, “just checking in” to see if the woman was available. Still, there was no response. On Sunday morning, York again “asked if the woman was free,” and said “that he would love to come and see her.” An undercover officer responded. Later that day, driving a rental car and carrying $160 in cash, York pulled into the meetup location at an East Palestine, Ohio, mobile home park.
He was met by police. York, months after filing to divorce his wife of more than 15 years, told the person he thought he was messaging that he had a California number because he used to live there, according to officer Dan Haueter with the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force, the agency that conducted the sting. York was arrested Sunday on suspicion of engaging in prostitution and disorderly conduct near his family home in Youngstown, Ohio. He was released that day on $5,000 bail and pleaded no contest on Monday to a lesser charge of possessing criminal tools, his cell phone, court records show.

More than 2 1/2 pages of the 10-page report were redacted, including the text exchange between York and the undercover officer. But the document provided the most detail yet of how the 49ers owner wound up at an East Palestine mobile home park arrested on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute. On Aug. 22, the task force placed an ad in an unnamed but “known prostitution” website, and York reached out the same day. York followed up around 9 a.m. the following day. He said he was coming from Boardman, a suburb south of Youngstown. He asked the woman to send a text with an address and he would start driving, according to the report. “York asked how much the female charged for 1 hour, and was advised that full service sexual activity was $160.00, with unprotected sex being $20.00 more,” an officer wrote. “York advised that the $160.00 worked for him, and he was on his way.” York was given a fictitious lot number at a mobile home park as the meeting location, the report said. York arrived in an Avis rental car and texted he was there, but he couldn’t find the fake lot number and backed out to the main road, the report said. Marked police officers stopped York and arrested him at 9:35 a.m, court records show. In his possession was $160 cash, which was seized. The cash was forfeited to the task force, according to court records. York’s phone, which an affidavit said was “used to arrange the criminal act,” was later returned to York. York was sentenced to time served and ordered to pay $1,150 in fines.”
