He ran toward the cockpit to fight. Minutes later, he was fighting to save a life.
When screams broke out aboard flydubai Flight FZ1073, Israeli dentist Dr. Shota Musaev didn't wait for anyone to call him. He ran forward and joined the passengers who overpowered and tied up the attacker - one of four who took control of the situation.
"I came to fight the attacker when I heard the screams," he said.
Then he turned to the wounded captain. Captain Smit Machchhar had suffered deep injuries to his head and hands, and Dr. Musaev was the only medical professional among the passengers. He worked to stop the bleeding as the plane made its way to an emergency landing.
The captain told them he was 39, with two children at home. Thanks to the men who stepped in, he's still here to see them.
A dentist. A plumber. A wounded captain. Ordinary people who ran toward danger. Heroes, each every single one of them. 🇮
The IDF has issued a comprehensive point-by-point response to "NAZA," the documentary that just won the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival - flatly rejecting its central claims as factually wrong and manipulative.
Among the IDF's key rebuttals:
🔴 AI has never independently selected targets to strike.
🔴 No IDF strike has ever been planned expecting 500 civilian deaths.
🔴 The term "Lavender" refers to an intelligence database - not a targeting system. And IDF directives explicitly prohibit directing strikes at civilians.
"Had the filmmakers conducted adequate verification and corroboration of facts in good faith, as professional standards require, they could have identified the substantial errors presented in the film," the IDF stated. "The end result shows that they did not."
Notably, the filmmakers never submitted their allegations to the IDF for review before publication - a standard journalistic practice they chose to skip. For the full statement:

On September 30, 2026, as a flydubai flight to Israel plunged toward disaster, Yaniv, Shota, Asaf, Tzvika, and Captain Smit showed extraordinary courage.
After Captain Smit was stabbed by the attacker, brave passengers and crew members helped overpower the assailant and pulled back on the aircraft’s controls until another pilot could take over.
In a moment of terror, their quick thinking and bravery helped save lives.
We salute them and everyone who stepped up when it mattered most. 💙

It's a bird? It's a plane? No - it's an Israeli plumber who saved 174 lives. 🦸
When a flydubai co-pilot stabbed the captain and sent the Tel Aviv-bound plane into a nosedive over Saudi Arabia, an Israeli plumber on board stormed the cockpit, pulled the attacker away from the controls, and grabbed the steering wheel to level the plane - having never flown before in his life.
When asked how he knew what to do, he had a simple answer: he learned it from watching a TV show.
But he wasn't alone. Other passengers tackled and restrained the terrorist co-pilot using earphones. Indian Captain Smit Machchhar - stabbed and bleeding - fought back against his attacker and managed to open the cockpit door, allowing additional crew members to enter and help bring the plane safely to the ground.
"Another 9/11 could have happened," said Israel's ambassador. It didn't - because of an Indian captain who refused to go down, a plumber who learned to fly from television, and passengers who acted without hesitation.
Heroes come in all shapes, sizes, and tool belts. 🇮🇱✈️
"September 30 marked one year since the last rocket from the Gaza Strip crossed into Israeli territory. One year without rockets or missiles from Gaza - for the first time in this century. 🇮🇱"

🚨 The IDF has published a dedicated website exposing 170 people mourned worldwide as "journalists" killed in Gaza - who were actually Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists.
118 were active in Hamas's military wing. 49 in Islamic Jihad. 17 participated in the October 7 massacre.
Some were employed by Reuters, CNN, BBC, AP, AFP and ABC.
Their deaths triggered UN condemnations of Israel.

Whatever the politics, humanity matters.
