@UConnNeag The TCPCG program was amazing and has served me very well. It was clear as a beginning teacher that I had been given the tools I needed to be successful. Entering my 15th year of teaching after graduating in 2007 and I still remember my classes and professors fondly.
Building trebuchets is one of my favorite STEAM projects. There’s so much opportunity to show the practical application of physics and it’s a great way to experience the iterative process of design! #STEAM#trebuchet@WeAreMcGee
🎶Everybody was Robot Fighting! Those bots were fast as lightning! In fact, it was a little bit frightening! But they drove with expert timing!🎶 #STEAM#robotics@WeAreMcGee
We took a trip to BHS today with some of our most engaged 8th Graders to show them the kinds of STEAM opportunities exist for them in their next level of education. They had an extremely valuable experience!
There are awesome STEAM experiences in so many different places. Playing the game Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes to teach logistic thinking and communication, and having a great time! #steam#wearemcgee@KeepTalkingGame
Putting basic physics concepts to work as we build and test model trebuchets! As a big fan of medieval history I particularly enjoy teaching this unit. #steam#wearemcgee

Congratulations to our 7th grade students for winning the programming award at First Lego League, Wolcott. We’re headed to the State competition!
Ten days after planting. Students take care of the aquaponics system on a daily rotation, taking chemical readings on the tank and grow beds and feeding the fish. They’re incredibly excited to see the seeds sprout!
“Don’t judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds you plant.” -RL Stevenson
6th Grade STEAM students plant basil seeds in seed-starters for the Aquaponics growing beds.
The STEAM Koi have been named! Say hello to the gang!
Fun fact: it is Japanese tradition to buy Koi in sets of odd numbers, and considered good luck to do so.
