@pippyyeayea @AndrewMarr9 It’s about Starmer’s judgement not the vetting process. Ignoring the advice of people like the National Security adviser and the Caninet Secretary shows poor judgement, as does the appointment itself. It may also have created a climate where Robbins felt under pressure.

@pippyyeayea @AndrewMarr9 I beg to disagree. Starmer rushed the process against the advice of his own National Security adviser Jonathan Powell and the advice of the Cabinet Secretary. He made it clear it was his political appointment and was very poor judgement.

@pippyyeayea @AndrewMarr9 Starmer was advised to do the vetting before announcing that Mandelson was being appointed to the post, Starmer ignored that advice. As you say he was within his rights to ignore the advice of the cabinet secretary but to my mind it calls into question Starmer’s judgement.
