I have this theory that it was neither a supernatural entity nor Bear's dead cat possessing Nikki's body, because the film's core is based on the idea that you can't force anyone to love you or force a genuine connection, meaning the real problem arises when Bear makes a wish for Nikki to love him more than anything else in this world but he doesn't really, really love her himself, proving he is a selfish prick throughout the whole film through several hints, such as at the start when he hears over the phone from Nikki that she has lost her jewel and he goes to a shop to buy one to gift her but didn't buy it, instead buying a Wish Willow that he didn't give to her because he used it for himself, and the aftermath of the wish he made was that if you love someone more than anything in the world it is a genuine human reflex for every ounce of your being to expect or want them to love you back and get love in return even if it's a little, which Nikki wants too, but the film takes a dark turn after this because he doesn't actually love her and a prompt is given to her to love him 24/7, so this idea gets in her head about what if he leaves her or doesn't love her anymore, leaving the poor girl unable to even sleep at nights as she stands in the corner of the room and stares at him all night because she can't bear if he leaves her, especially after a few days when he loses his interest in her and Nikki starts to imitate his dead cat in order to get love and affection out of him, shown in that one scene where she stands a whole day waiting for him and pisses herself right there, and when Bear comes back we get to know that this has been going on for days where she wouldn't eat or drink, at times screaming, making a scene, or trying to hurt herself as her way to make him say "I love you Nikki" and threatening him to stay only to get love from him, just as in the truth and dare scene we see Bear being selfish again because he could have just drunk it and avoided the dare but chose to do it instead, making Nikki lose her shit before things escalated so fast that in the end Nikki even takes Sarah's dress, gives herself tattoos like her, and copies her hairstyle too, hoping only if he loved her, which makes me think Nikki didn't make that wish in the end when Bear tries to kill himself by trying the gun first but couldn't and next trying sleeping pills but stopping and puking in the middle of it because he was too coward to kill himself and afraid to die, so he chooses to live and love her the rest of his life to suffer in a prison of his own creation, but the twist is that some of the pills already got into his system and he dies, meaning Nikki gets free because in that scene where Bear calls One Wish Willow the manager did say there is no cancellation and the only way the wish goes away is when you die, so if the person who made the wish dies it automatically becomes discarded and disappears, leading to Bear dying because of his own wrongdoings.
The film isn't about Nikki's obsession with Bear, but actually about Bear's obsession with Nikki, making Nikki the victim all along. 🥀💔
