Getting the BBQ going this weekend? Here's something worth keeping in mind. Barbecue ashes that aren’t fully cooled are a common cause of fires at #waste facilities.
If you're disposing of coals, ashes, or portable BBQs:
✅ Ensure they’re fully extinguished and completely cold.
✅ Leave them for a few days before binning or taking them to your local #recycling centre. #firesafety
👏♻️ The Big Green Recycling Machine received a fantastic welcome from school children during its unveiling 👏♻️
The design was inspired by the two winners of an art competition run in partnership with @maidstonebc & @suezUK & adapted by our team.

Happy Earth Day!
Today is a reminder that small actions, taken together, can make a real difference.🌍
We recently teamed up with our customers @SeetecInspire for a joint beach clean along the Teignmouth coastline in the south-west.
Volunteers covered long stretches of beach and walkways, collecting multiple bags of litter, including plastics, wrappers and cigarette butts. Their effort helped protect local wildlife, improve the shoreline, and strengthen community pride in this much‑loved coastal area. 🦀🐟

♻️ Happy #GlobalRecyclingDay! ♻️
This year’s theme, “Don’t think #waste, think opportunity” encourages us all to look beyond what we throw away and recognise the value in everyday materials. The items you #recycle can go on to become new products, from sports equipment to garden furniture and even construction materials.
We’re proud to work with businesses, local authorities and communities across the UK to increase #recycling and ensure valuable resources stay in use for longer. Together, we can build a #sustainable future.
Most businesses want to do the right thing, yet circular management of materials is still too often an afterthought. Join us for a webinar exploring Circularity in Practice, a nationwide initiative inspired by His Majesty the King and driven by organisations committed to real world circular solutions.
You’ll hear from experts across resource management, circular materials, and refurbished fixtures and fittings, as they share how to make circularity a core business practice, outline the initiative’s goals and rollout, and highlight practical actions that help design out waste. The session will also unpack what the Circularity in Practice pledge means for your organisation and why so many businesses are already getting involved.
Join the conversation on repurposing with purpose — and discover how your organisation can play a meaningful role.

Renew Hub receives Royal visit from His Majesty King Charles III
His Majesty King Charles III attended the launch of Circularity in Practice, a new business-focused initiative dedicated to repurposing and reusing items to reduce waste. The nationwide programme invites organisations across the UK to minimise waste and adopt circular approaches to material use.
His Majesty The King toured the facility - which we operate on behalf of @greatermcr - with John Scanlon EVP UK for SUEZ. The visit included a look at the pods where household items are refurbished, repaired and upcycled for future use. His Majesty The King also met with volunteers, apprentices and partners to discuss their work in keeping valuable household items circulating in the local economy and even undertook upholstery work on a sofa covered in fabrics reclaimed from the Royal Opera House. From your kitchen to British farms!
Recycling your food waste helps create nutrient-rich bio-fertiliser through anaerobic digestion. This fertiliser supports British farms by nourishing crops that end up back on your plate. Using your caddy also cuts methane emissions by keeping food waste out of landfill. Small actions, big impact!
