Join us on June 17 as we celebrate the rich histories, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous peoples, while also recognizing the importance of truth, respect, and reconciliation.
The City of Markham’s National Indigenous History Month Celebration and Flag Raising will take place from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at the Flato Markham Theatre. The event will feature Juno Award nominee and Billboard-charting band Sultans of String, accompanied by an Indigenous dancer. Indigenous Elder Shannon Thunderbird will also be in attendance to guide us in honouring and learning about Indigenous traditions and culture. We’ll wrap up the celebration with a flag-raising ceremony.
