Survivors deserve justice, an outcome that's rare. When systems dissuade survivors from sharing their experiences, it's even less likely perpetrators can be held accountable. Today's verdict shows why community support is critical. #believesurvivors

Three big legal victories for Me Too today: A jury finds for E Jean Carroll in New York, a judge tosses Marilyn Mansion’s defamation claim against Evan Rachel Wood, and Tory Lanez is denied a new trial after his conviction for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.
This #SAAM we honor all survivors and the courage it takes to share and to hold our stories. It will take ending all forms of oppression to #endsexualviolence, Survivors deserve peace, systems that treat them with respect, and to be believed. #believesurvivors#SAAM2023
Many survivors deal w/long-lasting mental health impacts of abuse & violence. Not being believed by those you trust can be traumatic and can push survivors further into isolation & perpetuate cycles of abuse. This #WorldMentalHealthDay, we can all do our part to uplift survivors.
A powerful example of why bystander intervention is important & why those in power should always 1st listen to & believe those reporting instances of abuse. Boys & men are incredible allies against violence #believesurvivors#supportsurvivors

With so many recent incidents of institutions devaluing survivors across sports, government, & in the music industry, it's another reminder of why response matters so much. Survivors, know that it is not your fault&you deserve respect & compassion. #believesurvivors#metoo
This survivor's story is not uncommon & shows why intervention is critical- schools, systems & peers must do better to support survivors. Too often, survivors aren't informed of legal rights& endure educational loss in addtn to trauma. #believesurvivors https://t.co/bleRP6J0BU
Today is the 50th anniversary of #TitleIX. Schools too often fail survivors, who lose out on access to education - a right protected under Title IX. Everyone deserves access to a safe learning environment, and to be protected from violence and harassment. #believesurvivors
Survivors deserve empathy, to be heard & to tell their stories w/o fear of retaliation. Retaliation by both abusers&institutions further silences survivors. We know many feel deep lack of empathy from their communities this week. Your experience matters. #believesurvivors#metoo
#abortionishealthcare & reproductive freedom is a key part of ending cycles of abuse. Many who've shared w/us have shared the fears & isolation after becoming pregnant in an abusive relationship or from sexual violence. We stand w/you, & all protesting #BansOffOurBodies.

This #WomensHistoryMonth, we're inspired by powerful women & those who fight for equality & freedom from violence. Sexual & gender-based violence are tools of oppression. Survivors are courageous, powerful& deserve support. We're grateful to amplify your voices. #believesurvivors
Everyone deserves a safe relationship.
Survivors are often blamed for not leaving relationships where they're experiencing harm. Leaving can be the riskiest time for those trying to leave& can lead to an increase in violence. Support is crucial. #tdvam#believesurvivors#tdvam22
Prevention education is a crucial component to helping end sexual violence. Prevention strategies have to be focused on realities of sexual violence and not on moving the problem elsewhere. #believesurvivors

While many celebrate today, we must also remember for Indigenous communities, today is part of a history where sexual violence was used as another form of violence & dehumanization. We're thankful for all who work to end violence & honor all parts of these stories.
A North Carolina high school sophomore reported that a male classmate sexually assaulted her. The school then suspended her and is requiring her to attend a class called “Sexual Harassment is Preventable."
And people still ask why survivors didn't report.

October is #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth. Everyone deserves a healthy, supportive relationship. All abuse & violence is about power + control, and often about isolating survivors from others - that's why community support is critical. #DVAM2021#StandWithSurvivors#community
After decades of abusing women and girls, R. Kelly has been found guilty. This is a victory for survivors, and a reminder that black women and girls are often targeted, then silenced. Enough. #MuteRKelly#metoo#StandWithSurvivors
