The arrest of our colleague Nikhil Chawda by the @AhmedabadPolice is a disgrace to justice and freedom of expression. His only “offense” was responding to posts that insulted B. R. Ambedkar.

Understand how the privilege of being Brahmin works through this case: In Chitrakoot, a minor girl goes to a well to fetch water. Three Brahmin youths arrive, kidnap her, take her to a secluded spot, and gang-rape her.

The girl told her mother about the incident, then went to the police station to file an FIR. They told her, "Your clothes aren't torn, so how can we believe you were raped?" In extreme agony, the girl returned home.

The accused are the village pradhan's nephews, so no action was taken. Due to the lack of action, the girl committed suicide. This is heartbreaking.

In India, the police and administration are still dominated by Brahmins, Baniyas, and other upper-caste communities. All leadership positions are held by them. That's why victims trying to file FIRs against upper castes get turned away. This is the reality—this is caste privilege.
