MeitY hosted the inaugural convening of the Sweden-India Technology and AI Corridor (SITAC) at Electronics Niketan, New Delhi.

Shri Saurabh Vijay, CEO, IndiaAI Mission, and senior MeitY leadership engaged with H.E. Agnes Julin, Minister Counsellor, Deputy Head of Mission, Embassy of Sweden in India, along with representatives from Business Sweden and leading companies from Sweden and India.

The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in AI, innovation and emerging technologies, advancing a shared vision of AI co-creation under the spirit of “Make in India” and “Made with Sweden.”

Secretary Ministry of Steel Mr. Sandeep Poundrik, accompanied by CMDs NMDC, SAIL and MOIL, and Counsellor Embassy of India in Sweden, on 26 August 2026, paid field visits to Alleima and Greeniron in Sandviken and OVAKO in Hofors, Sweden.

At Alleima, the delegation explored advanced materials, high-performance alloys and innovative solutions supporting energy-efficient and sustainable industrial applications. The engagement reaffirmed the scope for greater India–Sweden 🇮🇳🤝🇸🇪 collaboration in specialty steels, advanced materials, clean technologies and industrial innovation.

GREENIRON visit provided opportunities to understand innovative approaches to producing iron with significantly lower carbon emissions. The interaction highlighted the importance of technology innovation, hydrogen-based processes and efficient resource utilisation in accelerating the global green transition in the steel sector.

At Ovako site, the visit highlighted opportunities for knowledge exchange and industrial cooperation between the two countries in energy efficiency, hydrogen-based production, recycling and sustainable specialty steels. Also explored advanced steel production technologies and initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint of steelmaking.
