🚨 UPDATE: Shelby Officer Charged With Assault After Video Showed Him Punching Woman Repeatedly

Former Shelby Police Officer Karson Hyder, 22, has been charged with one count of assault inflicting serious injury.

He turned himself in to the Cleveland County Detention Center and was released on a $10,000 secured bond.

A doorbell camera captured Hyder throwing 34-year-old Cherrie Moore to the ground and punching her repeatedly in the head during an arrest on May 29.

A second officer could be heard trying to intervene. Moore suffered a broken nose and facial injuries.

Hyder was fired within 24 hours of the incident. The investigation focused on allegations of excessive use of force.

The case is ongoing.
