Cecilia Gentili reminded us that equality is never something we have to compete for. It expands when we choose compassion over fear, solidarity over division, and community over exclusion.
#TRANSPITTPRIDE DAY 24: THE OKRA PROJECT
The Okra Project is a mutual aid collective “focused on supporting Black Trans people and alleviating the barriers that our community faces.”

We are in this for the long haul. Not just for gender justice, but for all forms of justice. Collective liberation means that we all have the resources we need to thrive. That includes housing, fair employment, healthcare, and a dedication to autonomy and agency.
Yesterday, @GoodRx welcomed The Okra Project in for an afternoon of community and care 🌿💛 — goodie bags with hygiene essentials, Okra aprons, RX discount cards, and real info on accessing medications affordably (and sometimes at no cost) for our community.
Affordable healthcare is not a luxury. This is exactly the kind of partnerships we are here to cultivate. More to come. 🤎
Last night, Qween Jean became the first openly transgender person to win a Tony Award, taking home Best Costume Design of a Musical for Cats: The Jellicle Ball. Her work reminds us that trans people have always shaped culture, art, and movements for change.
RENT FUND IS NOW OPEN. YOU KNOW WHAT IT GAVE!
— Please read the rules on these slides and on the application page.
— We will likely close this in 1-2 hours or until we get about ~100 applicants — whichever comes first.
It’s Trans Day of Visibility.
Trans people deserve more than visibility, they deserve safety, resources, and support.
Join us in supporting trans communities by donating to organizations like @trans_empowered, @TheOkraProject, and @BlkTransTravel.
Not the news we want to share, but the news we must share, and a bid for care and longevity for Black trans lives.
We love you, we're working hard, and we hope to see you soon. 🤎 (slides continue in comments)
