Influencer Nara Smith shared to her over 4 million Instagram followers that her 2-year-old daughter Whimsy Lou has cancer.

In a video posted Wednesday, Smith said she and her husband, model Lucky Blue Smith, received the diagnosis late last year.

“I just remember [the pediatrician] going really quiet and calm, and my heart dropped in that moment,” Smith said. “I don’t know whether it was my gut telling me something or just a mom’s intuition, but the first thing that I felt was she has cancer.”

Danny Glover publicly revealed on Wednesday that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2023 and said leaning on his family has helped him navigate the diagnosis.

Glover’s story also shines a light on a health disparity that disproportionately affects Black communities. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, Black Americans are about twice as likely as white Americans to develop Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia.
