On 29 June, TIA Board Chairperson, Loyiso Tyira, CEO Dr Titus Mathe, and Executive: Innovation Enabling, Patrick Krappie, joined the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof Blade Nzimande, at the pre-launch media briefing for the inaugural National Science Month.

The past two years a national post-acceleration support call reached more than 300 alumni across GCIP-SA and other programmes. From 110 responses, 60 innovators were selected to participate in pitching events across five provinces.
The uYilo KickStart Fund continues to provide applied R&D funding for young entrepreneurs developing innovations in clean energy from regenerative battery charging systems to smart grid interoperability technologies. The clean economy needs skilled people. TIA is building them.
The Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Prof. Blade Nzimande, will host a pre-launch media briefing this afternoon to announce the launch the inaugural edition of National Science Month (NSM).
Thirty of TIA’s investees participated alongside external applicants. GrooveTech was selected as one of five winners globally and received R2.3 million in funding.

TIA’s Enterprise Development accelerator programmes exist to change those odds. Through competition-based calls, young entrepreneurs are selected based on the innovation and potential of their ideas then put through a rigorous programme.
