Can a company put a TIG algorithm in its product and sell it to thousands of customers, without every customer needing a licence?

Yes, they can.

John: "If you take it under the commercial license, you do have the right to integrate it even into a closed product."

The manufacturer holds the licence and the customers pay nothing. Wider sales are already covered by the price.

John: "If you sell 100,000 units rather than 10,000, your revenue goes up. And you've got to remember that the license fee is based on revenue."
