@Sajam Yeah this FS change is very much a "yasuo j2h" nerf in that it FEELS like shit, even though balance wise its probably ok. Making freestyle worse on defense and equally strong offensively just makes it more toxic not less...
@Sajam Its honestly pretty baffling that they did nothing at all to freestyle, like not removing it from burst and pushblock, and then when they finally did they needed to go so crazy with the nerfs all at once - doesnt fit their balance ethos for other things at all.
@Sajam I feel like universal punishment not connected to the fuse is a really awful way to nerf a fuse, at least to this degree.
Really wish theyd had nerfed the actual toxic parts not just playing the game normally.
Doesn't help that many chars dont have an alternative fuse to swap to.
@DemiurgeAcronym@vahMoS_ I never asked for freestyle nerfs for the record, but I did think it shouldve been nerfed, just not in this way!
The thing I always emphasized is that UNTIL they make 2x/DD work for more chars, freestyle HAS to be the best one or you will nuke character variety completely.
Back on 2XKO now and maaaaaan the freestyle changes feel so bad.
It makes freestyle team building so much more restricted.
I dont think we know yet if 2X assist/DD are just straight up better, but I feel like playing chars that only work in Freestyle is just inting.
Overall though Im having a great time with 2XKO outside of freestyle nerfs and thresh! The system mechanics are much better and ranked works again, performance seems slightly better(?) as well. Just hoping the meta won't be everyone dropping all freestyle chars ๐ถ
At this point im considering not traveling/competing in 2xko until we know if theyre going to change fuses again next patch, esp w tokon.
Most chars and teams I like are freestyle only so I don't really feel like playing until we know the severity of the nerfs are staying.
But yeah, dont go into launch expecting the game to be some type of "street fighter of tag fighters" - its very clearly designed to be a very crazy game, at least for now. Interesting to see which way they'll take it, hyped af for launch.
The funniest/weirdest take on Tokon (for both hating and defending it) is that its somehow ground based and not degenerate, with weak offense/low damage.
Tokon is the most snowbally game I have played since DNF and Nen Impact, and the powerlevel on mix and neutral skips is insane
I actually liked the game a lot more once I accepted that its clearly made to be a short form version of a normal tag fighter, which is why it has only one lifebar and 3 rounds to win - most tag fighters dont even use rounds!
It could use tuning ofc but I think the ideas good -
I feel like the mixups that are in Tokon that are there (and trust me they are insanely broken, more oppressive than most tag fighter mix) were left there by accident and directly go against the developers vision. Hoping I'm wrong, I'd rather play a kusoge than gbvs 4v4
The char designs in this game are so well made, if the systems around it could be improved (and they did improve them a lot from earlier betas) then the game could be so much better.
I'm not trying to be negative, fair honest feedback is the only way to help improve the game.
IMO the biggest issue for tokon is:
1. Game feels really sluggish to move and do things in, call assist + ground movement esp - makes no sense because the movement is super strong but extremely bad feeling.
2. Assists + Active tag are WAY too strong and don't carry enough risk.
HOWEVER, despite all these big gameplay issues and a lot more less important stuff, I believe that the game has a lot of cool things in it and I will definitely be competing in it!
I just hope they fix the big gameplay issues + PC performance + PS5 Input delay ASAP.
