This spring, the @TWDB partnered with @LCRA to deploy a Collison Floating Evaporation Pan on Lake Buchanan. It’s measuring how much water is lost to evaporation, helping to improve our understanding of reservoir conditions and water supply across Texas.
#ICYMI: In this special Water + Weather report, Dr. Wentzel breaks down how individual reservoir measurements are combined to calculate total statewide water supply storage and shows you where to find specific reservoir information. https://t.co/1DQRFBTf0p
The @TWDB offers excellent benefits, competitive compensation, and a real opportunity to make a positive difference for the state of Texas. Visit our Career Opportunities webpage to learn more and view open positions: https://t.co/w2NgFzOGUY.
While slightly below storage volume from this time last year, reservoirs in the Nueces basin have increased since last month thanks to waves of rainfall. The current flood wave passing through upstream of Lake Corpus Christi will be a welcome addition to the water supply. #txwx
Let it stand tall! Longer grass adds shade and helps retain soil moisture, especially during drought. Give your mower (and your back) a break. Skip a mow and keep grass at 3–4 inches. More tips: https://t.co/LV56Q3mD1d
️ Texas Heat = High Evaporation! 🌵 Water your lawn before 9 AM or after 6 PM to save 60% of the water you use. Keep the water on the grass, not in the air! 💧
Stay weather aware, Texas!
Thunderstorms are expected statewide through the rest of the week.

After no change in drought area last week, the May 26 map shows a return to weekly contraction. Much of East & South TX improved by one category, while the Panhandle saw mixed improvement and degradation. https://t.co/vPCm98Jc1r
The Flood Infrastructure Fund was created to fund drainage, flood mitigation, and flood control projects across planning, design, and construction phases for communities across Texas. Learn more at the Texas Water Newsroom: https://t.co/GFCkkH0ptK.
Meet DianaJoyce Ojeda, a GIS Specialist on a Flood Mapping team. She supports Senate Bill 3 by integrating community feedback into flood risk areas and builds ArcGIS tools for key projects. Starting as a 2021 intern, she now advances floodplain and GIS work at the @TWDB.

Plentiful rainfall in May has increased river streamflows and improved ongoing drought conditions in Texas, but drought conditions persist across our region. Extreme and worse drought conditions have gradually decreased in area though. #drought#txflooding
A regional project with @hcdd_1, Willacy County Drainage District No. 1, and Willacy County, are partnering on a regional project to reduce flooding in Sebastian, Texas. https://t.co/t9WVIYl7It

Over the past 24 hours, Texas has seen some much-needed rain, especially in South Texas, where some areas received 6–8 inches (shown in pink). Check out the latest updates: https://t.co/F2ffyBBLjg
Here is a look at our current river forecasts in the wake of heavy rainfall yesterday and with some additional rainfall to come. This rainfall, along with plentiful rainfall over the past month, has also resulted in an increase in statewide reservoir storage. #txwx#txreservoirs
