For example a common argument against universal healthcare is that the increased demand can't be met and people will die waiting for service. As if that's not a thing that happens right now.

Another thing I've started noticing is they paint dire pictures as if they're the consequence of doing what's right as if they don't exist now

They do this with EVERYTHING. Doesn't matter the topic, paying student athletes, Reparations, universal Medicare, cutting carbon emissions. It's almost a Gish gallop but I'm sure there's a logical fallacy that describes it better.
