@DKemeridou I sat on it for too long. I finally opened my book up, doing a final editing pass and hoping to self publish on Fathers Day. My main concern is figuring out the cover for it. I won't use A.I., I can't afford to pay an artist, and I'm pretty slow at creating art myself.
@pennyistyping Can't beat having an entire library in your backpack. But I do love physical books, and I can't imagine ever not buying them. I rarely leave Barnes & Noble for less than a hundred dollars.
Nice, my original intent was to edit chapter by chapter, but then, when I get to a chapter that is over 10k words, I sometimes fail to get it done, and it messes up my routine. So if I set myself a minimum, I'm sure to not stall out.
But if I was a more disciplined writer/editor, I would get even the long ones knocked out in a day. Hopefully I can work up to that!
@JDaltonAuthor@jflWrites Thank you for the input! Iim definitely thinking a bit bigger now. And yes nice, I definitely like the idea of promoting it and selling it more than throwing money (from a tight budget) at ads and hoping for the best
@bethmcgreeneyes@goodreads Ah only physical books? I do prefer physical books but the convenience of having an entire library in my pocket or backpack is hard to pass up. I still buy physical copies of my favorite books tho
@jflWrites@JDaltonAuthor Dang, that's interesting. I'm about to self publish my first novel on Amazon, and I was planning on paying for advertising. Sounds like I would be better off saving that money for an audio version of it?
@StevenTBoers63 I have to take notes or I'll forget, not matter how good of an idea I think it is. But I've put them all on the back burner while I finish my first project.
As a 500 word a day writer, I've often thought I need to put in the effort to bring it up to 1000. But 500 has worked so good for me, I'm worried I'll initiate a burnout or something. I've considered upping it slowing, by like adding an extra 100 words per week until Im writing 1k a day.
Did you start out at 1k or did you build up your writing muscles?
@bethmcgreeneyes@goodreads Do you use a different E-Read now? I've thought about getting one, but I always have my phone, so I'm not sure if there would be an advantage to one?
@goodreads Tbh, I like to know as little as possible about a book before I read it. Not only do I not read the reviews, I don't read what it's about first. I know the authors I like, hear recommendations, and just randomly try different books. Sometimes the cover or name sells me on it.
