Every single day, Muslims in India are subjected to hate—on TV screens, in WhatsApp forwards, on the streets.

Lynching, wrongful incarcerations, bulldozing of homes, open calls for genocide—this is not rare; it’s routine. It’s the air we’re forced to breathe.

Under this regime, dehumanizing Muslims has become a political strategy, a cultural norm.

Entire communities live under constant suspicion and fear, while hate mongers enjoy impunity and prime-time slots.

And yet today, many of the same people who are silent—or worse, complicit—in this daily humiliation are suddenly applauding the presence of a Muslim officer at a press conference.

Why? Because it looks good. It helps the optics. It gives a momentary illusion of inclusion.

But let’s be clear: using a Muslim face for state optics doesn’t undo the hate Muslims face every day in this country. It doesn’t erase the systemic injustice, the profiling, the violence, the second-class citizenship. It only reveals the hypocrisy.

This isn’t representation. It’s tokenism—sanitized and packaged for public consumption.
It’s a calculated performance—meant to mask the brutal reality with a moment of staged inclusivity.

We received deeply disturbing and chilling reports from Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, where two Kashmiri shawl sellers were brutally assaulted by members of the Bajrang Dal. Also, Around 16 other Kashmiri traders, mostly from the Kupwara district, have been threatened, harassed, and forcibly evicted from their rented accommodations.

These are not newcomers, many of them have been doing business and selling shawls in Mussoorie for years, contributing to the local economy and living peacefully within the community. Yet, instead of receiving safety, support, and protection from the state authorities, they were reportedly asked by the Mussoorie Police themselves to vacate the area and leave the state immediately effectively abandoning their livelihoods.

One of the traders shared, “All our goods, worth at least ₹30 lakh, are still lying there. We had no choice but to flee back to Kashmir, leaving everything behind.”

We urge Hon'ble Chief Minister @pushkardhami Ji to immediately intervene, put an end to this reign of terror, and ensure the immediate arrest of the culprits. We also request. Hon'ble @OmarAbdullah Ji to urgently take up the matter with his counterpart in Uttarakhand. Request. Hon'ble HM @AmitShah Ji for Personal Intervention in it. Kashmiris are not outsiders in India. We are equal citizens and an integral part of this country. This is precisely what our hostile neighbour, Pakistan, wants to sow division, alienation, and mistrust between Kashmiris and the rest of the country. By targeting innocent Kashmiri traders and pushing them out of Indian cities, we are playing directly into their hands and serving their agenda.
