I started teaching early in my career. It was 2014 when I started going to colleges in and around Bangalore to take classes over the weekend.

The photos I’m sharing are close to heart. First one is from MSRIT, and the other one is from RVCE.

Teaching has given my life meaning. Back then I never thought I will dedicate my life to fixing education in India. Only thing I knew is that I know something and the students don’t and I liked bridging the gaps.

The third image is one of the many early reviews I got on my teaching style. I taught like an elder brother (bhaiya) because that was the only way I knew how to teach. Cracking jokes, using examples from middle class households.

Growing up, like most of us here, we didn’t have money for tuition teachers. I struggled but persisted. At that age too I had a resolve that whatever I went through my lil sister shouldn’t endure. So every day I used to teach her. I had 10+ years of daily teaching experience before I took my first class in one of the colleges.

Been doing this for 25+ years now I still get so excited when I have to explain a concept to someone. I just love it when I can come up with a better example, a better exercise. I can imagine how happy the students would be. It gets me going every day.

If you read till here, I’m sharing this to tell you one thing — there’s a teacher in all of us. Teaching is the most amazing thing you can do. You don’t need 100K subscribers on YT to teach. Go to a school, go to a college, or find one student online and start your teaching journey.

This is the most rewarding experience in life. Try it. Trust me you’ll thank me for this.

What are the odds of a PM getting into a product cycle that early? Mostly founders decide and build the first version and offload to PMs from there.
