@WRnation123@Buster_ESPN@AndyBenes40 He's comparing the situation (retaining one legacy player and selling off everyone else). No where did he say Buxton as a player is like Gwynn...
@FranmilsEyebrow@kgajow You're the one that brought up AAV saying Kwan should be somewhere in the 11-13M range... So I came with comps (Gordon, Fowler, Brantley) of arguably less valuable OFs with low power output that got more on the open market.
@FranmilsEyebrow@kgajow Rowand comp was about AAV. A guy like that got the same AAV you are saying Kwan is worth and got it 18 years ago when the median team payroll was more than $50M less than now.
Is Kwan worth the 4/$120M Carman suggests? No. But it's probably more like 5/$90-$100M
@FranmilsEyebrow@kgajow Others with $15M plus AAV include Dexter Fowler, Alex Gordon, Michael Brantley, etc.
The guys you mentioned (Harris, Carroll) were all signed prior to becoming established MLB players.
@CovertheCorner With trading Jose a non-starter, I only see one legit path forward and that is:
Fire the hitting coach
Fire the minor league position player development staff
Fire any scouts responsible for position player scouting
Trade Clase, Kwan, and maybe Bibee.
Contend in 2027 (hopefully)
