Crazy that this is getting barely any coverage. This year’s European Press Prize was just awarded to an investigative report by the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. It is entitled “What the Wounds Tell” and in it the journalists Maud Effting and Willem Feenstra document the cases of 114 children in Gaza under the age of 15 who were struck by a single bullet to the head or chest. Almost all of them died or were left severely disabled. They chose to document only the cases of boys and girls under the age of 15 (though often much younger: aged 3, 4 or 7) because these are children who can be immediately identified as such. “A single bullet in these parts of the body is a clear indication that these children were deliberately targeted“, the two journalists write.

In July 2020, 14-year-old Tamar from Marken was hit by a car on a dark dike road and left to die. Her body was later found in the berm.
What happened next is deeply disturbing.

The police initially told her mother that the driver was German. Days later the truth came out: it was four Iraqis in the car. The mother was told they withheld the real background because they didn’t want to create a "Wilders-effect" — they didn’t want to give Geert Wilders political ammunition.

Even worse: evidence strongly suggests Tamar’s body was moved after the accident. The driver didn’t just flee, they dragged her off the road and left her there like an animal.

The driver received only a €1,500 fine for looking at his phone while driving. He then disappeared completely. The fine was returned “undeliverable” and for years he was untraceable.

Only after years of fighting by the family (including going to court to force prosecution), a breakthrough came in March 2026: the now 33-year old Jamal is finally being prosecuted for causing the fatal accident and leaving the scene.

Just like Henry Nowak in Southampton — an innocent young person dies, authorities seem more focused on protecting a narrative and avoiding “political incorrectness” than on delivering swift justice.
A 14-year-old girl dies on a Dutch dike. The system lies about the identity of the driver, gives him a slap on the wrist, loses him for years, and only after massive pressure does real prosecution begin.

This is not just a traffic accident. This is a story about truth, accountability, and what happens when institutions put ideology before grieving families.

Her name was Tamar.
She was 14.
She deserved better.

You want to know what's worse than incompetence? Knowing the truth and burying it anyway.

They knew. That's the bit nobody is saying. They knew.

Two days after Henry died Hampshire Police secretly recorded Digwa in a police van speaking Punjabi to his brother. Digwa admitted stabbing Henry. Discussed claiming self defence. Made zero mention of racial abuse. Not one word.

Hampshire Police had that tape.

They knew Digwa was lying about the racist attack. They had the evidence. They had his own words and then tried to smear Henry as the aggressor anyway.

Three days after his death their statement read “it was reported two men had been assaulted by an unknown man.” Henry was the unknown man. The boy bleeding out on the street. They flipped it.

Family complained. Statement changed. Then police told the family their NEXT update would again infer Henry was the initial aggressor. His family had to fight them a second time. While grieving their murdered son.

Then during the trial Hampshire tried to issue a statement telling the public to stop talking about it online. Calling it disinformation. The CPS had to step in. Told them they were about to collapse their own murder case.

This is the force that handcuffed a dying boy. Missed the murder weapon twice. Had a secret tape proving the killer lied. And still tried to bury Henry's name.

That's not incompetence. That's a machine protecting itself. At the expense of a dead boy's reputation and three officers are still on active duty. Not suspended. Treated as witnesses. To their own actions.

Hampshire Police didn't just fail Henry on that street. They kept failing him for six months after he died.

A British surgeon in Gaza testifies that Israeli soldiers used Palestinian children as target practice. One day, they would shoot the children in the testicles, and on other days, in their necks.

Let’s talk about Rania Mallah, killed yesterday in an Israeli strike on Bourj al-Shamali in Tyre.

For 12 hours, Rania was buried beneath the rubble & known to still be alive.

Her family kept calling her mobile phone.

She would switch it on to let them know she was still there. Still breathing. Still waiting to be rescued.
To let Lebanese Civil Defence rescuers know where she was trapped.

Rescue teams pulled others out & kept digging with their bare hands in search of her, until orders came to halt all rescue operations until the following morning.

But they had Rania’s number.

They kept calling her.
And she kept answering.

She never spoke.
But they could hear her breathing.

For 12 hours, Rania lay there alone beneath broken concrete, stones, darkness, dust & fear. Most likely injured. Listening to voices above her, knowing people were trying to reach her but were being prevented from continuing.

Just like in Maarakeh, rescuers were forced to stop searching overnight.

Still, they kept calling her phone to give her hope. To let her know she had not been abandoned.

By around 1:00 a.m., roughly 12 hours after the strike, her phone finally went dead.
The battery had most likely run out.

This morning, rescuers resumed the search.

They found Rania.

Next to her was her mobile phone.

She had died.

Israel killed her twice.
The first time with a bomb.
The second time when rescuers were prevented from saving her.

In just hours, Israel has unleashed more than 110 airstrikes across over 20 towns &villages in south Lebanon & the Western Bekaa, alongside relentless artillery shelling.

This is a war crime under international law: Wanton devastation not justified by military necessity.

Destroying dams serving civilian populations across surrounding villages is not military necessity. It is the deliberate destruction of civilian infrastructure.

War crimes beget war crimes—When the international community failed to bring Israel to justice for targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Gaza, Israel knew they could do it again with impunity.

Israel began targeting bridges and cutting off roads to isolate southern Lebanon from the rest of the country, with absolutely no consequences. Now Israel start targeting critical water infrastructure—yet again the international community and ICC remain silent.

I don’t know how to describe life here in Gaza…
Even going to the bathroom has become a daily struggle for survival.
No sewage system, no clean water, and none of the basic conditions for a dignified human life.

We live surrounded by garbage and contaminated water.
Rats enter our tents,
fleas cover children’s bodies,
mosquitoes and flies fill the air,
and diseases spread silently — smallpox, infections, and epidemics with no medicine and no hospitals to treat them.

The children of Gaza are not only afraid of bombs,
they are afraid of sleeping among insects,
and waking up covered in bites, sickness, and hunger.

This is not life.
This is a humanitarian catastrophe endured by more than two million people before the eyes of the world.

Gaza is not dying all at once…
it is being left to suffocate slowly.
