More faces from the BDEI Community Champion Program!
149 young people from across Nigeria were selected for the Basic Digital Education Initiative (BDEI) Community Champion Program, and today, we’re putting the spotlight on more of the participants behind that number.
With training already underway, they are learning, building, and preparing to apply their knowledge through projects that respond to the needs of their communities.
Each participant brings a different story, perspective, and experience to the journey, and we’re excited to see how they grow and what they go on to create within their communities.
Join us in celebrating more of the brilliant minds on this journey!

As we continue celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child and taking conversations about STEM, AI, digital skills, and future career opportunities to girls in schools, Tech Girls Squad Book is part of that experience, giving the girls a resource they can take with them and continue learning from beyond the advocacy sessions.
It is a reminder that inspiring girls to explore technology should not end with one conversation. They need opportunities and resources that can keep their curiosity growing.

Last year, we officially launched the Tech Girls Squad Advocacy Book, bringing to life an idea we had been working on with one goal in mind, to inspire young girls to see themselves in technology.
Through relatable stories and illustrations, Tech Girls Squad Volume 1 sparks curiosity, introduces girls to STEM and the opportunities that exist in technology, and shows them that they too can be innovators, creators, and problem-solvers in the digital age.
It’s graduation time!
Congratulations to the Women Techsters Fellowship Class of 2026!
For the past one year, our fellows have gone through an intensive learning journey designed to equip them with the technical, practical AI and professional skills they need to build careers, solve problems and pursue economic opportunities.
Across eight learning tracks, they have spent months learning and applying their skills through hands-on training, assessments, projects and professional certifications. They have worked in teams to develop solutions addressing real-world business and development challenges, strengthened their soft skills, received mentorship and prepared for pathways into employment, freelancing and entrepreneurship.
After months of learning, building and applying their skills, they are reaching this milestone as skilled, AI-ready women prepared to contribute their expertise, solve problems and create value across Africa’s digital economy.
This October, we are set to celebrate the graduation of the Women Techsters Fellowship Class of 2026!
Class of 2026, it’s almost time, how ready are you?

Complex interfaces once intimidated Cindy Thlathla. During the Women Techsters Fellowship, she had the opportunity to design them and build the confidence to take on work she previously found challenging.
As a Product Design Fellow based in South Africa, Cindy put her skills into practice, worked through that fear and became more comfortable tackling complex design tasks.
One of the biggest lessons she is taking from the Fellowship is to face challenges instead of avoiding them. As she prepares to graduate with the Class of 2026, it is a mindset she plans to carry into the next stage of her journey.
Watch Cindy share how the Fellowship helped her build her Product Design skills and the confidence to take on what once felt difficult.
Thank you to the Internet Society Foundation for supporting the Women Techsters Fellowship and helping women like Cindy build practical skills and the confidence to put them to work.

The Tech Girls Advocacy Drive continues throughout October as we reach more schools, spark meaningful conversations, and inspire the next generation of girls to explore the world of technology.
Here are some highlights from today’s visit to Senior Girls Academy, Lagos Island!

The Tech Girls Advocacy Drive continues!
Today, we visited Senior Girls Academy, Lagos Island, to engage young girls on the possibilities that STEM, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and digital skills offer for their future.
Through interactive conversations, we encouraged the students to explore technology, embrace innovation, and recognise the opportunities digital skills can create for decent work, entrepreneurship, and economic prosperity.
At Tech4Dev, we believe every girl deserves the opportunity to learn, innovate, and contribute to shaping the future of technology. By taking this message directly to schools, we hope to inspire more girls to see themselves not just as users of technology, but as future creators, innovators, and leaders.

Some moments are worth revisiting, and the Tech4Dev AI Inter-District Secondary School Challenge is one of them.
Earlier this year, 135 secondary school girls across Lagos Education Districts II and IV in Nigeria had the opportunity to learn about AI, identify problems around them, and explore how technology could be used to develop solutions.
The goal was to spark their curiosity about technology, expose them to the opportunities in the field, and help them see that they could be more than users of technology, they could build with it too.
27 schools submitted their entries, and six made it to the Grand Finale, where the girls presented AI-powered solutions addressing challenges including healthcare access, bullying, student safety, and learning accessibility.
As we continue to celebrate the International Day of the Girl Child, their journey is a reminder of why early exposure matters. When girls have access to the right knowledge, tools, and opportunities, we give them room to explore their ideas, build relevant skills, and see a future for themselves in technology.
Watch the video to see how it all came together. 🎥

To every girl who has a dream, a voice, and a future she’s working towards, this is for you. 💜
We asked the Humans of Tech4Dev to share a message of encouragement for every girl child out there, and their words are a reminder that your dreams are valid, your voice matters, and your potential has no limits.
Keep learning. Keep asking questions. Keep showing up for yourself. The world needs your ideas, your courage, and everything you have to offer.
Happy International Day of the Girl Child! ✨
#DayOfTheGirl #GirlChild #Tech4Dev #CreatingEconomicProsperity
Every girl deserves the opportunity to dream, learn, grow, and become all she can be.
But for that potential to become possibility, girls need access to quality education, digital skills, mentorship, supportive communities, and opportunities that allow them to discover what they are capable of.
At Tech4Dev, we have seen what can happen when girls are given the opportunity to learn and create. From introducing secondary school girls to technology and AI to creating spaces where they can identify problems within their communities and develop solutions, we continue to see girls show us just how much is possible when they have access to the right opportunities.
As we mark the International Day of the Girl Child, we celebrate girls everywhere and reaffirm the importance of creating a world where every girl has the opportunity, support, and resources she needs to thrive and shape her own future.
Because when we invest in girls today, we are investing in the women, leaders, innovators, and changemakers of tomorrow.
Happy International Day of the Girl Child!

Six schools made it to the Grand Finale, where the girls presented AI-powered solutions addressing real-life challenges, including healthcare access, bullying, student safety, and learning accessibility.
The solutions they developed show what can happen when girls have the opportunity to learn, explore their ideas, and apply their knowledge to challenges around them. This is why investing in girls and giving them access to opportunities in technology matters.
As we look ahead to the International Day of the Girl Child, we remain committed to creating opportunities for more girls to learn, explore, build, and see themselves in technology.
