July 4th fireworks have been cancelled by TFPD & TVFD due to ongoing drought issues. Even w/ forecasted rain, fuel moistures are not likely to recover to a safe enough level to responsibly display our fireworks. Remember private display of fireworks is prohibited in the district.
Paul was a graceful leader, mentor, & valued friend. “Paul’s positivity & dedication to his community was contagious, & his selfless service was inspiration to all of us, & always will be," Chief Bennett said. "We will miss him.” We offer our condolences to Paul’s family.
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of one of our former Telluride Fire Protection District volunteer firefighters, Mr. Paul Dujardin. Paul served 15 yrs as a volunteer firefighter & 8 years on the TFPD Board, four as President. District Chief John Bennett said,

TFPD Wildland crew is in its 3rd week of service at the #HermitsPeakFire & #CalfCanyonFire near Sante Fe. TFPD engine is also on scene. The 3 FFs are part of a Structure Protection Task Force performing functions ahead of the fire path. Stay safe & thank you for your service!

“Wildfire Season” has turned into “Wildfire Year” with Colorado experiencing record-setting wildfires for 2yrs straight driven by extreme weather & drought conditions. While TFPD is working hard to monitor & reduce risks, we urge you to join this critical effort.
TFPD is participating in CO’s free face mask program. Starting this Monday, procedural & KN95 masks will be available M-F, 8am-5pm at St1 in Telluride (131 W. Columbia Ave.) & St2 in Mtn Village (411 Mtn V. Blvd.). Signage w/instructions will be posted. Limit 1/person; 5/month.
