Nobody expects to perform CPR. Until they have to.
Most cardiac arrests don't happen in public places surrounded by strangers. They happen at home.
The first person there is often a spouse, parent, child, friend or neighbor.
Immediate CPR can double or even triple a person's chance of survival while professional help is on the way. The good news is that CPR is a skill anyone can learn.
Tempe Fire Medical Rescue is now offering affordable CPR certification classes designed for beginners and taught by Tempe Fire captain paramedics.
Classes are just $30 and include a short online learning component followed by an in-person, hands-on skills session.
Learn CPR. Be ready.

Most cardiac arrests happen at home.
The first person there is rarely a firefighter or paramedic. It’s often a spouse, parent, friend, neighbor or coworker.
It’s you.
Someone stepping in to give CPR during those first few minutes can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival.
That’s why Tempe Fire Medical Rescue is offering monthly $30 CPR and AED classes designed to help residents feel more prepared and confident during an emergency. Classes are taught by Tempe Fire paramedics with firsthand experience responding to cardiac emergencies.
The next class is Saturday, May 30, from 9 - 11 a.m.

The Tempe City Council voted 6-1 on May 14 to place a 0.5% sales tax proposition on the Nov. 3 ballot to fund public safety, transportation and early childhood care and preschool education.
The proposed Nov. 3 ballot measure would replace funding stripped from the budget by the state. This revenue would also stabilize funding for public safety and add funding for long-awaited transportation needs and create additional opportunities for free and reduced rate early childhood care and preschool education.
