ModiG's playbook is being followed as a model by the current US administration; be it offering $5000 as a populist measure or now, attacking the free press.
TRUMP DEFENDS WHITE HOUSE MEDIA CRACKDOWN
President Trump says the White House is “not instituting an assault on the Free Press,” arguing instead that it is targeting what he calls “fake news.”
Trump described such coverage as a “threat to our National Security” and said it “must be stopped, NOW.”

Moreover, caste remains a major structural influence in DUSU elections. There's especially dominance by candidates from the Jat and Gurjar communities in ticket distribution, campaigning, and results for major posts like VP, secretary etc.
I’m sorry but two observations from the DUSU results:
1. A majority of students are against the present regime—but fractured, and hence it benefits the regime. But this is a silver lining. Those bagging positions must remember they are not kings or queens. The majority DID NOT vote for them.
2. Instead of focusing on hounding the CJP, it will do well for the Congress and its bureaucratic wings to get their game sorted. That sorting game has been going on for 12 years now and people are losing patience—just like the rebel NSUI candidate who has won with a HUGE margin for VP on being denied NSUI ticket. Some in the Left unity—not all—are too focused on ideological purity and exclusivity. They should wake up and smell the coffee—no one is running to them for their validation.
If this is the opposition “unity”, then I’m afraid they will continue to remain in Opposition.
MAMATA BANERJEE : "Now, I want the BJP to go from India" 😳
"Rahul Gandhi had called me on Thursday. I want solidarity in INDIA Alliance. I am extending my support to Congress in Nandigram and in Assam"
"I reject ECI's interim order, we will not bow before ECI. Black day in our democratic history"
"As a common citizen I am not getting my freedom. That Trinamool Congress is fake"
India's top three banks made a profit of Rs 2.24 lakh crore in 2026-27.
The Reserve Bank of India's surplus transfer to the government was Rs 2.86 lakh crore.
India's banking regulator makes a lot of money. So given that subsidising the few thousand crores that it costs to run the UPI is small change, in whatever way it's done. Through the RBI or through the government.
Which is why the argument that the system can't continue to subsidise UPI is basically rubbish.
If the Fed hikes, and the rupee depreciates further against the dollar, each dollar of interest is gonna cost the banks more rupees to buy under the FCNR(B), since RBI's swap only covers the principal amount 🫢.
the Fed has three options tomorrow, none of which are slam dunks:
- Hawkish hold: leave rates unchanged but guide overtly hawkish in the Summary of Economic Projections.
- Dovish hike: raise 25bps but suggest just one-to-three adjustment hikes, then done.
- Hawkish hike: kick off a full new hiking cycle, guiding two more by January.
Not hiking risks a technical reaction at the back-end (perhaps 10y rises from 5% to 5.1%). A dovish hike doesn’t satisfy hawks and amounts to forward guidance that shackled the Fed going forward. And a new hiking cycle means the Fed was suckered into it by the market, given no new underlying inflation pressure today vs. July or June.
In my opinion, the path of least resistance is to hold but write down 1-2 hikes in the remainder of the year, revise growth and unemployment hawkishly, and raise the FOMC’s 2028 and long-term fed-funds rate (quasi-estimates of neutral).
There’s a 130bps gap between where the market sees rates in 2028 (4.63%) and where the Fed sees them (3.38%). The long-run estimate is still pinned at 3.1%.
I think it matters less what the FOMC does tomorrow and more what it signals about its understanding of the economy—markets may reward that recalibration more than any 25bps here or there.
India is often globally stereotyped as a land of lentils and paneer (cottage cheese), but its non-veg culinary landscape is among the most sophisticated on earth.
The diversity and richness in India's cuisine is one of the very few things considered good about this country lol.
NEW WORLD NUMBER ONE!
27 year old Elena Rybakina will become the 30th ever WTA World #1 after reaching the US Open semifinals for the first time.
Defeated the Olympic champ Zheng Qinwen 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 to reach the last 4 in New York.
Ends Sabalenka's reign of almost 2 years.
Went downhill from 2:00. The anchor is irritated and by 3:00, tries to intimidate the former fin sec. She panics around 4:30 when she can't get away with bullshit assertions. Finally just blurts out numbers confidently, asks him a final question, gets buried again.
