The NRL will trial a new kick-off rule in Thursday night’s Broncos v Storm clash.

After any points are scored — try, penalty goal or field goal — the team that conceded will have the option to either kick off or receive the ball at the restart.

The trial is aimed at reducing major momentum swings and blowouts, with the rule potentially introduced next season.
