Miso, Corgi/Beagle mix, Prince & Lafayette St., New York, NY • “He almost never barks. He’s my coworker’s dog – I’m on Miso duty. He’s one of the best dogs in the world. He wants to make friends with every dog and he’s never mean. And he loves the office; loves to work.”
Lila, Pembroke Welsh Corgi (2 y/o), 19th & Irving Place, New York, NY • “She’s lovely to have. She used to live in New Jersey and she actually just moved to the city a week and a half ago. She’s still adjusting but she loves it here. She likes the people and she gets to see so many dogs. She just wiggles her booty around.”
We went on a Dogist Bar Crawl with London the Great Pyrenees mix! Things got a little crazy after she had her second bowl of water and Elsa got up on the table. Everyone had a blast and we were able to raise over $1,000 for The Dogist Fund!

Holly, Labrador Retriever (1.5 y/o), Main St. & Jamestown Ave., Philadelphia, PA • “She’s obsessed with other dogs. She stalks, thinks they can’t see her. She likes strollers…things that roll. She is afraid of the stairs. She has to do this whole windup routine. Still chases her tail aggressively.”
Remi, mix (5 y/o), Theodore Roosevelt Park, New York, NY • “She was found as a stray. I was living in Virginia at the time. I went to #homewardtailsrescue and they just kind of handed her to me. Since I could walk I would follow dogs anywhere I saw them – I was dog obsessed. The first few weeks were pretty tough, she wouldn’t come out of the crate. She doesn’t really have a tail but it took about three weeks to actually see the little nub wagging. She’s not an angel when Sarah leaves for work. She knows how to scream.”
“What’s your favorite thing about dogs?”
“Everything. I’m allergic (to dogs). I take a ton of medicine.”
Thank you #MuddyPawsRescue offering this photoshoot during your gala auction!
Rigatoni, Golden Retriever (3 m/o), Theodore Roosevelt Park, New York, NY • “When I’m working from home, he just sleeps under my feet, but when he gets excited and I’m up and moving around, he loves to fetch. I don’t know if you noticed, but his arm is shaved. He swallowed a sock. Rigatoni loves socks, but fun fact: they eat socks because it smells like their owners. I do have pet insurance... I saw him swallow it, so I brought him in within 20 minutes, so all they had to do was get him to throw up; but they said if it got into his intestine, it would have been $10,000. He’s always smiling. I feel like New York, as much as it's like there's so much to do, and so much fun... it’s a million miles per hour, and now I'm like seeing so many areas of the city that I've never even gone to just because I want to take him there.”
Brooks, Golden Retriever (4 y/o), King Street, Charleston, SC • “I think more people know Brooks than know me. We live in an old historic home. He used to look outside the window which was really cool and exciting, but then I think he became a bit too popular and people started peeking their heads in the windows. We had to install one-way film there. I think he’s taught me to take some slow mornings. It’s important to take small, slow walks. No need to rush.”
I pet 27 dogs in 48 hours in Charleston! Not bad, but I think I can break that record on my next trip. Thank you NAPHIA for having me as your conference keynote speaker!
Romeo, Groenendael (2 y/o), Bleecker & W 10th St., New York, NY • “My partner had one before and saw the same breed running along the beach and was like, ‘I need to have one of those’. He needs a bath right now – he’s been running around the forest this weekend. He gets groomed every other month, maximum. It’s only twice a year that there is like a good shed. They're pretty low maintenance.”
Olive, Pug/Pit Bull mix (12 y/o), 80th & Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY “She’s blind. You have to make sounds. She’s very resourceful. She can hear absolutely everything, like if someone is peeling a banana. She went blind six years ago, so she’s spent half of her life blind. She doesn’t realize she’s blind – it’s a secret. We just try to make things easier. We had to swap some furniture out so she wouldn’t hurt herself. We can’t leave shoes around. We have to keep things tidy. She’s very unique. She’s a rescue from @AnimalLeague .”
Morty, Spaniel Mix (7 y/o), Hudson & Perry St., New York, NY • “He's a mixture of a Cocker Spaniel, Shih Tzu, Pittie and some other things. He’ll dance for you. He’s a dancer. He's just adorable, he’s got like a puppy energy; puppy nature. He eats all foods.”
“What would you say your favorite part about having dogs is?”
“They’re just always excited to see you and love you.”
Lando was recently found 20lbs underweight and tied to a pole at a bus stop in Brooklyn. Thanks to #animalrescueconsortium, Tony and his team were able to rescue him, get him veterinary care, and find him a foster home to recover in. This is the type of animal recovery Tony does on a daily basis around NYC and beyond. He has one of the biggest hearts I’ve seen, and I’m honored that his organization is a Dogist Fund beneficiary this year. Today we’re raising money to support his work. If you’re able to, please head to https://t.co/BgVkWbo7gJ to help Tony continue to save these animals.
Yesterday, about 1,000 people and their dogs walked through Central Park together for the first Dogist meetup in years!
Thank you to everyone who came, brought a dog, volunteered, adopted, fostered, or simply showed up to be part of it. It was a truly special day. Elsa agrees.
Mandoo, Shar Pei/Pug/Beagle mix, 17th & Irving Place, New York, NY • “Everyone says I have to find you because I have such a unique dog. Mandoo means dumpling in Korean. She’s Chinese, she’s like Shar Pei and Pug, but I’m raising her Korean. She does speak a little Korean.”
Mikey & Havana, Wire-haired Dachshunds (8 & 14 y/o), Central Park, New York, NY • “They’re just great companions. When I come home at night, I say ‘I’m home’, and no one says anything, but the dogs come running up to me and greet me and their tails wagging…”
Dice, Dalmatian, Anchorage Place, Brooklyn, NY • ”He’s a tri-colored Dalmatian. He’s been getting a lot of attention here. He’s not too friendly, so you might not want to get too close.”
Happy Mother’s Day! Whether you’re a dog mom or a human mom (or grandmom), you mean so much to the people (and dogs) you care for! 💐Here’s my mom making her signature treats for Els ❤️
Raoul, Mishka, & Cosmo, Pomskies & Golden Retriever, Central Park, New York, NY • ”Cosmo is picky. He doesn’t really like treats. Raoul and Mishka (the Pomskies) will eat apples and carrots if they’re around. Crunchy. Chicken and steak are their favorites.”
