In this deteriorating era of youth basketball, I think of my mentor & friend, Norm Eavenson.
As summer basketball season rolls around, I reminisce about the gyms, players, pizza & the endless knowledge he shared.
I’ve followed prep hoop scouts for over 20 years—he was the best!
PRAYER WARRIORS
A challenge with my chemotherapy and immunotherapy treatments is the days after.
Treatment on a Wednesday and then typically not feeling well for 72 to 96 hours. It is a quiet count down of "when will I feel better".
Prayer and Positivity to the finish line!
Coaches who need a leader and a winner need to be all over @kendall_allen2!!
Kendall brings a winning mentality and toughness to your team from day 1!!!
Graduated and academically really to go!!
🚨 Aspiring college athletes. Here’s 3 things that will raise the bar for you in your recruitment process
1. Stay in shape & work on your game daily. In case you get invited to a college workout/try out, you want to make sure you put your best foot forward. You don’t want to look sluggish in workouts just because you aren’t doing your part. Control what you can control. Stay ready & you never have to get ready.
2. Make sure your film is organized & easily accessible….. NOT JUST HIGHLIGHTS!!!
You’ll need a mix of highlights & your best 2-4 full games with stats & any other athletic accomplishments you may have. Don’t be the recruit that relies on your parents or coaches to do it for you. Yes they should guide you but as the player you should be the leader in your own recruitment. No one should want it more than you do.
3. (Most importantly) Make sure you have your academics in order. Transcripts, Clearinghouse info, test scores & academic accolades are key essentials to help drive your recruitment forward. This is the cherry on top! You might be a really good player but if you have poor academics you’re hurting your chances of obtaining a scholarship.
If any of this info help you then follow @SBE_Global to learn more about separating yourself from the bunch in your recruitment process 🏀

Josh Merkel has achieved tremendous success both on the court and in the classroom at Randolph-Macon. He has earned his seventh Bob Johnson ODAC Coach of the Year @RMCHoops!
This year, he posted an overall record of 22-3 and a 15-1 record in ODAC play, winning the ODAC regular season for the fourth consecutive year.
His staff is excellent, and he can coach, evaluate, and recruit anywhere! Athletic directors, take note.
